This is the most striking Pinot Grigio/ Grauburgunder I have ever had - it makes me reconsider what can be done with the variety. On the nose, light varnish and oaky vanilla; on the palate, oak shows through quite strongly at first, but this is so heavily extracted that it's almost in balance, with apricot, peach, pineapple, and saline elements countering the vanilla/popcorn notes from the oak. It's strongly acidic and dry, and the finish lasts ten to fifteen seconds. …
