The Wine Society White Burgundy

Still drinking very well. If you have more recent vintages of WS White Burgundy, I think it is worth keeping a few bottles to see how they develop over a slightly longer period. We have always gone for youth and freshness in this wine but I now think there is more to it than I realised. It softens and develops attractive fruit with nutty qualities.

Fair Macon nose, but not very prominent. Colour is deepening a little with age. Almost sweet, soft fruit - some citrus but mainly apple and peach with a hint of pineapple developing in the glass. Some attractive buttery toffee on the end taste. I thought I'd finished this vintage (we normally drink it younger than this) but have just found a few in the recesses of my store. Fresh green and yellow fruits with hints of salinity. Easy drinking white.

Less full than comparable Macon-Villages I have drunk. Would go better with fish than most Chardonnays.
