At first this juice was a bit cloying with tight coiled acidity. After cork pull and replacement this needed a couple hours in the fridge to wake up and come together. Expressive and expansive nose of smokey bitter orange, white raisin flesh, green melon, dry Lychee and exotic baking spice hints, On the palate the concentration and length are impressive, apricot, lychee, a pleasant bitter orange edge, brown sugar, Grip with good acidity to juxtapose the honeyed fruit. Very Clean …

Brad Feels Like Cooking Dinner (Brad's Place, St. Paul, MN) : Light amber color. Drank a small pour from 500ml. There's a lot going on here. The fruit is a complex malange of ripe apple, baked apricot, orange marmalade, golden raisin and a even a red cherry note at times. This has got the acidity to totally handle the sweetness and there's some fantastic spice notes, in particular an orange cinnamon stick note. This has a lot of untuous goodness …

From 37,5 cl, excellent cork. Finally a 2000 Kracher from my big wooden box which I genuinely like! Imagine an ancient PX sherry without the burnt raisin character but with the thickest of thick textures, a ton of glycerine and every other penetrating, sweet gorgeousness. Then add sumptuously ripe, piercing acidity. Yup, we're in heaven. An excellent partner to bitter chocolate. No hurry, but no reason to wait. 94P

From 37,5cl, good cork stained (of course) at end. Now dark brown. This wasn't very nice on 01.05.2007 and 10 years in the cellar haven't helped. Massively sweet and fat, of course, but sadly lacking the vibrancy and/or acid balance and/or exciting fruit and/or botrytis action of a Tokaji of equal price and pedigree. Perhaps the most expensive bottle of maple syrup mixed with molasses and extra demerara sugar I have ever opened... A big disappointment after a fine bottle …

Not quite as robust when we last had this. It still is quite tasty but I wonder if it's luster is starting to fade. Nevertheless, this is quite lovely. Deep amber color, caramel and subtle orange hints. Drink up!

From 37,5cl, dried out cork, broke on extraction. Dark gold/bronze colour; intriguing mint/peppermint aroma is the finest feature; very sweet entry of course, quite some caramel, but the low acidity makes for a dull mid-palate and a sullen finish. All in all not exactly distinguished, but Kracher is Kracher, even at this modest level (and they make the best of a grape varietal which I don't think I will ever learn to love). Drink up (86-)87P

Drank this as an after dinner sipper, following two great Brunello's 1997 Frescobaldi Reserve and 1997 Lisini Reserve. Solid fruit and not overly sugar-ey. Still had a little bit of tart bite that I did not care for.

Opened 3 days ago , I am in a much better condition to assess this wine. Beautiful clear browning gold. Took a minute to lock in on the nose, it becomes layers of overripe mango, pears, toffee, coconut, roast coffee bean. This was complex, subtle, offering. Always hard for me to move from nose to palate. The transition was just as rewarding. Palate is coating, , viscous , no drop offs from start to finish, subtle acidity supports the lift and …

This wine was very brown in color definitely showing off its age. With notes of green apple, caramel, nuts, honey, lemon, elderflower liquor, tea, burnt sugar, cream, mango, sweet vermouthand dried coconut. Very explosive in flavor almost psychedlic just kept bursting with flavor like a kalidescope absolutely astonishing.

Developed browning color showing its age, although this wine has all the parts to go another 20 years+. Spice cake, passionfruit and candied apricot all leap from the glass on a spectacularly intense and complex nose. The palate is full bodied, unctuous and thick, but it retains a certain elegance and class. Juicy raisin, woodsy spice, and tropical fruits are all there, with a seemingly never ending finish. Spectacular.

A Fabulously rich sweet baby with thick layers of caramel and butterscotch with high notes of refined honey. I suppose that those that like more tightly defined structure may not care for this as much but... the hell with them. This is killer stuff that lingers well over several minutes on the palate. This is why you work your ass off to buy the good shit...

We served this with a second course of foie gras and the pairing was magical. The richness of the foie gras and the sweetness of the Kracher were warming, and delicioius. It was my favorite course of the night. This wine is sweet, with carmel, orange, and a sauterne-like quality. What a treat.

Delicious. Very sauternes-like, with obvious botrytis, but also fruity (especially pear), as well as acid and mineral reminiscent of iodine. Very sweet but the sugar magically disappears on the long finish.

Continuing a great tradition, we consumed this wrapping presents after the kids were tucked into bed. Big, fruity, sweet, with nice acid. Probably a little high in sugar content, which means you should keep this for decades before opening. But the perfect match for a nice Christmas Eve ritual, and for playing Santa as the kids sleep.

Showing much better than 3 years ago. Distinctly lower acid (by Kracher standards!), and almost like drinking buttered caramel. Not as complex as other Kracher's, but for pure decadence this is tough to beat. Showed even better after being open for a day.

Massively sweet but monolithic. The acid balance is missing at this stage, as if the perfect mango had lost everything which gave it its balance and was just fat, sweet and even overripe. Today: "only" 90P

Dinner at Charles Morgan's flat (Kensington, London, UK) : Light gold. A very good but not great Kracher only made more obvious next to the '89 Heimbourg SGN. Medium bodied and very peachy, this wine was extremely thick, just on the edge of cloying. Very sweet from start to finish. 50+12+11+8+8 = 89

Good, but not in the realms of the truly mind-blowing Kracher TBA's. Fantastic concentration, and lengthy finish, but just a touch lacking in complexity and acid. Even with 6.5 g/l acidity, it seemed a touch flabby. Lots of botrytis, apple, and pear on the nose with rich apricot and spicy botrytis on the palate, with some creamy caramel flavors as well. The Welschriesling & Scheurebe ZDS cuvees seem to be the best. Three days later seems to be richer, more …

I tasted the spicy, and definitely the searing that someone mentioned. This is alcoholic without feeling pleasantly warm. Definite nose of apricots. Spicy apricots on the palate? I didn't like this much at all, even over three days. I can see the intensity and even some complexity in it, but it was so far from being smooth I didn't enjoy it.

Dinner with the Plambecks. The nose is truly amazing. From the moment I pulled the cork, it filled the room. It showed creme brulee, botrytis, and about anything else you could think of. The palate was even better. I have not had a dessert wine before that was this lush, big, and sweet but in perfect balance. It tasted of creme brulee with an extra dose of vanilla and spanish almonds. It ended with an endless finish.
