Colour showed the age. Perhaps past its optimal drinking window but opened up after some time. Smooth and the house favorite of the three reds opened.

Coravin’d and drank over 1 hour. Nose: Leather, mushroom, floral, cranberry/cherry Palate: Good acidity that carries from beginning to end; red fruit; medium body; integrated tannins; vanilla/oak; slight heat at the end; good on its own but likely better with food Very nice

This was a really pleasant surprise for me. I'm not always a Brunello person sometimes finding them a bit too oaked and intense. But this was very well integrated. Nicely structured. It's certainly more full bodied than some of the older nebbiolos we had, but it worked for the wine. Very nice.

Slow O'd for a couple of hours. Cork was fine. Brown meniscus. Good fruit on the nose, but not much in the glass. Very advanced. upon double decanting: dark opaque red-purple. rich aromas of ripe dark fruits with earthy notes. full bodied, firm tannins, ripe fruits, mouth filling, rich, pleasant finish. after 3 hours: the wine opened somewhat, but didn't impress as a very outstanding wine, but it was much more approachable.

Brought to Scarpetta for belated birthday celebration. In a pretty place but needed a bit of time in the decanter to come to life. Nice deep exoticness that I expect from brunello with a little age. Has lots of life yet. Tannin really came alive with the final course of venison. 90.

Tasted at the "winery" (read: 3 room garage) in Montalcino with Giulio Salvioni before VinItaly. Fantastic brunello, especially for 2003, certainly not the best of years. If you can find this in the states (doubtful), snatch it up.
