F**k me! Absolutely spellbinding! This Barbaresco delivers a masterclass in aging gracefully. The cork was only 75% compromised, the wine was a revelation, bursting with life and exuberance. On the palate, it offers a wow-wow of pure red fruit mingling with strong scents of an autumnal forest stroll—think damp earth and fallen leaves—and the delicate fragrance of faint roses, which, admittedly, might have stayed hidden without the suggestion from the label. The structure remains robust, with beautiful acidity, restrained and …

Has an intoxicating perfume of rose petals, dried flowers, truffle and earth. It still has a core of vinous sweetness, coupled with all sorts of savoury nuance. There's some licorice, leather and teak. It is silky, full and long, still cut by bright acidity. Lovely wine.

13,5% alcohol. The color here is very odd, really youthful, translucent, blue-hued purple. This doesn't look like Nebbiolo at all, let alone one almost 40 years old. This looks like wine no older than 2 years. The nose is really, REALLY odd by any standards; it is sweet, pungent and saline with noticeable blackcurrant juice concentrate aroma along with aldehydic notes of green apples, sorrel and a hint of sweet, acetonic VA. The wine feels ripe, sweet and very acid-driven …

Blind tasting with some friends. #2 Just like when we were poured the Percarlo, we immediately knew what we had in the glass with this wine. Dark garnet-red in color, with serious bricking near the edges. The bouquet consists of notes reminding me of sous bois, already fading overripe dark cherries, dried tobacco leaves and an old leather armchair sitting amidst it all. A touch of rose water, balsamic notes and hints of acetone remain in the back, but are …

this was a great wine drinking so young for its 36 year age, med / dark red (darker than many barbarescos i've had), med plus bodied with good acid, and with a smallish dose of tannin remaining for just the right amount of grip, it had plenty of fruit - a bit more on the dark side of the spectrum, the fruit was dry with no sign of sweetness, crunchy / bitter currants, just a slight hint of angularity kept …

This drank great. I got that sea edge / algae thing I get from Barolo and Barbaresco. More feminine that a Barolo had the same night. Worked well with fish.
