Dark yellow colour. Quite developed. I think storage issues. Some acid. Honeyed and rich honeycomb flavours. Too advanced. 88.

2007 vintage

First-class Riesling. Very primary now even as we approach its 7-year birthdate, and it feels like this will age forever. Lemon, lemon pith, grapefruit, green apple, pear, and a sour pineapple note dominate. Incredible purity. A slight tennis can note as well. Slowly the jasmine/lavender floral notes emerge too. Long and fresh on the palate. That lemon pith note lingers forever. Needed 5-6 hours now before the fruit even began to emerge. Hold or open if you can be patient.

simply outstanding elixir, quite dark old gold colour, complex luscious nose, great intensity and concentration on the palate with the acidity to balance the sweetness, just wonderful

Thick, deep tropical fruit, almost liqueur- or marmalade-like, with pineapple, passion fruit, banana, orange, and coconut. Dry with a sweet feeling. Some green elements like stinging nettle, herbs, and cucumber contrast all the sweet fruit in a good way. Finish could have been longer. This has some development to it, and I am not sure there is further upside – would drink now or in the next couple of years to not lose freshness.

half-bottle drunk by itself on a summer evening, simply a golden elixir, green-gold colour, superb fine clean and complex nose with depth, luscious oily palate with super concentration of flavour, long, balanced, with sufficient acidity to keep it fresh at the finish, 8.5%, just great

Yellow/golden color. Intense nose of green apples, lime, tangerine, slate. Very fruity. Round and deep palate balancing out the acidity. Very approachable at this age and in no way 'tired'. Contrary to some of the previous reviews, I don't find the acidity shocking. The wine is simply wonderfully balanced. Drank this bottle over 4 days and it lost nothing of its appeal.

While I generally agree with the prior two notes, which reflect a strong preference for pradikät Wines From great producers, I must say that this was a crowd “wow“ wine. Decanted this magnum for one and a half hours in the refrigerator and served over the course of an hour. Gruaud Larose at Salil's : Open one week in my fridge in hopes that the high acidity would mellow. It did, but not enough for me. Maybe it's because the bouquet is classic Dönnhoff Dellchen (ie.beautiful sweet citrus and petrol) that I am so shocked by the acidity in this wine. Salil says 2011 should be a good vintage for Großes Gewächs. I think this means that Großes Gewächs is just not for me.

PnP and consumed over the next two hours. 13,5% Alc., deep yellow-orange color. Nose: Concentrated fresh 'Demeter Quality' apricot from the Provence. PnP, then drunk over two days, and a very small leftover five more days later. Classic elegance, beguiling and refined nose of sweet white fruit, herbal and even floral notes. On the palate it has a nice balance, with a deep mineral core in the midpalate and a long finish more on the fruit. It kept well for a week, but did not improve.

Much darker yellow shade than rest of the Donnhoff lineup the same evening. Apple pie nose, Inc cinnamon. Palate green apples and pear, opening up with honey and sugared peach sweetness balanced by a green apple acidity with a bitter peach background. Honey and green apple on the finish with a certain creaminess. Balanced and opens up with time. Tastes almost nicely matured like a good Sauternes?

Similar to last bottle, perhaps a bit richer. Still lots of sweet apple, pear, honey, and vanilla nose over a bone dry palate. Medium richness and med+ tart spicy finish. Very enjoyable, good counter balance to slightly spicy curry.
