Domaine Zinck Gewurztraminer Vendange Tardive

Bought in Strasbourg, drank in Tijuana! Medium sweet Gewurz. Apple pie, pear pie, baked apricot, puff pastry. Everything's baked. Medium + body with low acidity. Overall a lot of RS. The sweetness scale on the back of the bottle says 4/8, I think it's more like a 6/8. Good pairing with a goat cheesecake for dessert, though!

Aromatic richly textured wine. Mango papaya honeycomb and rose petal. Rich color speaks to age but the palate is fresh and juicy. Lively #gewurztraminer with spicy lemon meringue finish. Almost a decade old and drinking nicely. Off dry style

I cannot resist sniffing while this is still in the bottle, still getting a potent hit of quince, ripe cantaloupe, pear preserves, and 7-Up. Anytime a Gewurz note is composed, one might as well cut and paste “lychee, brown spice, and Turkish delight”. This is no exception, although intriguingly it’s the other elements that captivate here: Asian pears, lime curd, Pina Colada lifesavers, papaya, candied ginger, pink grapefruit, even a pinch of saffron.
