There’s a quiet tension to this wine that feels very much by design—less about immediate charm, more about coiled intent. The nose opens with restrained red fruit—cranberry, tart cherry, and a touch of wild strawberry—layered with rose petal, dried orange peel, and a distinctly savory edge of forest floor, black tea, and a hint of mushroom. There’s a cool, slightly stemmy lift that keeps everything feeling precise and just a little aloof. On the palate, it’s taut and linear, built …

Amazingly consistent with 2015 note. Big time dill, and I love it. These have been great and still holding up. Fantastic with cedar planked salmon tonight.

12 year vertical of first 12 vintages that I brought from my cellar. Tasted with Rollin, Corby, my wife, my cousin and spouse, several wine writers and a food blogger invited by Rollin and Corby.

7th Annual Christmas dinner and cellar raid (Naperville, IL) : Part of Christmas wine dinner and cellar raid and didn't take detailed notes. This was the first in the flight, and started off extremely light, but then really came around. Close to the top of the flight for me

Checking in on this guy and it looks like we're doing fine with time to spare. Transparent crimson with some bricking. Aromas of dill, earth, smoke, and red flowers. Light to medium body and both luscious and seamless on the palate—seriously this baby glides. Medium to medium+ acidity and finish, with flavors of cranberry, orange peel, dill, cola, and mineral. Quite enjoy this wine. With 3 more left, let's try again in a year or 2.

Well that is darn good. And and juicy right now. Touch of a harder finish - but in a great mineral fleshy way.

A nose of black cherry and spice, dark ruby in color. A medium to full bodied single vineyard Pinot, with black cherry, raspberry, plum, dense with long spiced finish. Very good, a steal at this sale price. www.winelx.com

Willamette Valley Oregon Trip 4 & 1/2 Days; 7/29/2013-8/4/2013 (Willamette Valley, Oregon) : Wit's End. Vanilla, ripe, sweet, plum, cherry pie, licorice, slightly stewed fruit on the palate. Complex and deeper, also shows some heat.

Consistent with previous bottle although perhaps slightly less expressive on the nose. This wine was loaded with smoky and spicy raspberries and cranberries and earth tones. Fine texture on the mouthfeel and finish. Really nice wine and an excellent pairing with a black trumpet risotto. Wish I would have bought more at the sale price paid.

I saw that most of the notes recommended giving this wine some air and I am quite glad I listened. On pop and pour, this wine was thin in all aspects. After about an hour or so of decanting, this is really showing great. Light garnet color. Nose of strawbwerry, dried cherry, forest floor, pine and something herbal. Lots of great pinot flavors on the palate with cranberry, cherry cough drop, a hint of sweet oak. Juicy mouthfeel with medium+ …

Wish I'd bought a case of this at the price I got it at. Really enjoy this one, and yes, it takes a bit of air to come around. Transparent garnet color. This time I'm getting rose petals, raspberry and strawberry on the nose, which I'm loving. Medium bodied but lighter framed and all red fruits on the palate, with a little bitter orange on the back end, good acidity, and medium finish. Great w/ pork, poultry, or roasted vegetable …

Classic Oregon Pinot on the nose- earth and strawberries. Took time to open up (1-2 hours). Strawberries, cola, mint and earth. Delicate medium finish.

Overall, I have to downgrade this. Last took notes March 2012. This wine just isn't ready to drink when you open it, too much sweetness with the cherry sense across the entire wine. Open it, have a glass, then put it away for a day or two. Come back. You'll find the cherry skins and earth notes have blended together better on the nose and mouth. Less tang in the mouth, with better integration of glycerols in the midpalate. Altogether …

Pleasant nose of crushed berries and cherry cola. Nice soft mouthfeel with wild cherry and a hint of earthiness. Fairly light in color and weight on the palate. I will not numerically score as I'm pretty torn, it comes off as a bit flat, even after being opened a few hours. Of note, upon first opening it was completely dead on the initial attack and midpalate - so I would recommend some aeration for sure.

Monthly Wine Group: Domestic Pinots and Chards From Some Top Producers (Levain, Mpls) : Small pour, medium-light red color. This was considerably lighter and more delicate in style compared to most of the nights offerings. Pleasant, but didn't get a detailed examination.

See previous notes... can't stress enough to give this a god 2-3 hours of air minimum. It comes across as pretty simple like a cheap beaujolais on the PnP but really transforms after 2-3 hours.

didn't drink as well as previous bottle, came across as far more simple. However, to be fair it was popped and poured, and my previous bottle took a while to open up.

Wanted to try this wine, as it was hyped with limited production (about 200 cases). PnP. Typical OR Pinot with fruit and cola flavors. Medium bodied with a short finish. I didn't think it was anything special...average. Maybe my palate simply gravitates to CA Pinots rather than OR? Sells for about $70 from winery, but tastes like a $20 Pinot. Disappointed.

Dark ruby with medium viscosity in the glass. Black cherry skin, strawberry, kirsch and cedar on the nose. Medium body with oak, strawberry and green pepper on the palate. Grippy tannin. Med-short finish. Heat and oak are disjointed and don't know if time will help.

Mountains to Metro (Heritage Ballroom in the Governor Hotel) : Much larger and bigger, with more noticeable oak than their 2008. Lots of oak spice here, and it feels a bit fat... it smells like it has a muffin top. Better palate entry, with nice fruits, but it gets progressively deeper and darker as its held. This offers blackberries that are heavy and ripe. Alcoholic and far larger on the finish than I prefer... pretty darn off putting alcohol, in …

Dark ruby with medium viscosity in the glass. Oak, cherry cobbler, cinnamon, cola and forrest floor on the nose. Medium body with the palate dominated by oak and heat. Ripe cherry and raspberry, cassis, kirsch, cinnamon and cola. Some grip. Medium finish. A lot of the oak, heat and grip blew off with time, leaving cherry cola, toast and earth.

Much better than I was exepecting. On the pop and pour the nose was really tight and almost non-existent. Really light ruby color with exceptional clarity. Red berries with faint herbal notes with crisp acidity, really restrained and feminine. Nose really opened after a few hours adding some floral elements. My one quible was that perhaps it lacked a little complexity, but I think that might come with time and more air. Really nice wine and great with food.

Love this. Nose is a blast of cherry pie, graham cracker, and mint. Cherry and oddly kiwi across palate, finishing with no trace of tannins, and acids about two-thirds integrated. What I'd consider to be classic Oregon Pinot. Confidently expresses itself.
