Delicious. Great balance. I’d guess some of the juice usually destined for 1er or grand cru ended up in this villages.

Sous bois, plum, cherry, blackberry, chocolate, licorice; smooth, full, luscious silk, long intense fruitful finish, delicious, with spices Later: muted, less distinctive nose and palate, still intense but slightly more oily

This is drinking so well right now. Delicate nose. Touch of spice. Vanilla. Clove. Lovely fruit on the palate. Still getting strawberry and cream. Lovely balance and integration. Get a bit more woody/brambles on the palate after this has been open a few hours.

As before. Stunning. Deep red in colour. Clove and vanilla on the nose. Lots of spice. Full bodied. Complex. Hint of strawberry and cream. Long finish. Really enjoyable.

A private dinner (Restaurant Le Gavroche **, London) : An enclave in RSV. Deep and rich, elegance and fire, lovely fruit, elegant oak, still a bit austere but opens up powerfully and eventually gloriously, long.
