Deep golden yellow in color. Full, fragrant & attractive nose of very ripe fruit aromas of yellow peaches, apricots & mangoes with overtones of floral notes of honeysuckle & honey, orange rind, spices, minerals & a touch of vanilla. Full bodied with a very good concentration of balanced & smooth textured, unctuous, ripe fruit flavors of yellow peaches, dried apricots & golden raisins with spices, burnt caramel, honey, almonds, minerals & vanilla. Long lingering sweet finish. Drinks quite well at …

Tour de France supper - Bordeaux (Alejandro's place, Mascot) : a little baked apple, apricot, backed by orange marmalade, sweet spice, a little vanilla, juicy, bordering on cloyingly sweet - not quite enough acidity for me. Might be better with something other than canelé…

Still showing good, no sign of decline. Good 35 year old sweet wine

This showed well tonight, but is on the light side for such a warm vintage. Almonds, apricot, some danish pastry. Not overly sweet but has a good balance.

It was my first Sauternes, maybe not in good shape, but with unique experience. Deep, slightly dark brown gold color comes with bold consistency in the glass. Aroma was reductive, overriped, but with it's own character. Dried apricot, rye, honey, medicine notes and liquor. In the mouth wine is bold, full-bodied, with minimum acidity now, but with great concentration of dried apricots, honey and malt. Long sweet overriped aftertatse with not completely lacking acidity.

A little more bright, crisp and fresh, than sweet, lush and tropical, the medium bodied wine is a good match for savory courses, as it is not overly sweet. However, you need to be a fan of butterscotch here, because that seems to be the dominant flavor.

Limpide, brillant. Belle couleur vieil or foncé avec des reflets ambres. Assez mobile.

Sauternes and Barsac 2014 in barrel (Bordeaux) : Cloudier aspect. Ripe peach and even hints of pear. Seems to be in a prenatal phase. But could hold promise. A bit hot on the finish? Tasted at Vintex once again, it was better and quite delicious. 89-92

Opened as the dessert wine for my youngest son's 29th birthday dinner. I was initially very apprehensive about this bottle, but no need . It was very lively. Sweet bouquet. Nice acidity. On the palate orange, apricot, honey and a touch of caramel. Again, I was very surprised how good it was. It was a 750 ml bottle, which I guess gave it a better shot.

marmalade and burnt sugar; medium body; more savory than sweet--might have guessed an older 4-5 puttonyos tokaji.

1983 vs. 1986 Sauternes Blind Tasting (Menlo Park, CA) : Tasting blind. Losing its fruit, fuller body; palate is pleasing, but simple; ends a bit flat. I wrote "sauternes, lower quality" and ranked it 7th. 87

Medium amber in colour. Some grilled pineapples, apricots, and brown sugar on the nose though nothing distinctive. Light bodied and the sweet pears with honeyed orange marmalade make an appearance on the palate though somewhat missing something. Some botrytized taste in the end; medium finish. This is a pretty decent sauternes for the price. 89-90.

Bordeaux-Mostly 2009 Reds (K&L Wines, San Francisco) : Golden. Pineapple and burnt sugar elements. Funny, wooly feel. Sweet, honeyed, good acidity with some orange blossom. Medium length. Eh.

Sweet fruit flavors. Possibly overripe for my taste. Might go better with food/dessert.

Quite enjoyable. Lots of bottle age, notes of botrytis, caramel, apricots, peaches. It has some weight to it, but not as viscous as the bigger chateaux. For the price, well worth it but.

Don't have much experience with mature Sauterne to compare, but this was quite nice. I was afraid would have been well past. Seemingly balanced, carmel, pear, apricot, vanilla. Paired nicely with Pear and Gorgonzola pizza.

Sunday Evening (My House, Denver, CO) : Almost carmel-colored now. Carmel, pear, apricot, vanilla on nose. Light, not cloying sweetness which is good because there is not much acidity. The balance therefore is good. Low complexity and not much finesse. Very serviceable served with berry cream white cake.

Robert Parker 88 points. Broadbent One Star. Score one for Parker. It aged fairly well. Fruit on the nose, mostly white fruit. More citrus on the palate, like orange. Good finish. Could have used a pinch more acidity, but ti was still a pretty nice dessert wine. Drank as part of the CellarTracker! offline in Seattle. This is still going strong.

Tasted at the CT Weekend Event. Color of light brown sugar. Nose of apricot, orange rind, spice. Similar palate though the sweetness had faded leaving a sense of chunky English marmalade. This was mixed with spice and roasted caramel. Delicious.

Over the hill, but the nose remained cleaned. The sweetness, however, was a bit coying and the wine too hot. Straight downhill with airtime. 50+4+13+15+6=88

Straw colored. Nice, overt nose with carmel, pear, apricot, vanilla. Somewhat fat mouthfeel with nice sweetness, but not much in the way of structure or acidity and the finish was nothing remarkable. It was a very nice foil for pears, grapes and bleu cheeses. I don't think this wine is going anywhere, is not profound, but is very serviceble for this sort of purpose.
