Torres, Penedes, Mas La Plana

Quel plaisir de partager un jéroboam de ce grand vin de Torrres sur le millésime 98 avec les amis, dont deux sont nés en 98, justement. Grand vin, grande profondeur. Plus évolué que ce à quoi je m'attendait, ça manquant un peu de oumph, mais c'était un très beau moment tout de même.

Still surprisingly fresh, with black fruit characters underpinned with tannins. The savoury entry became sweeter as it developed with a strong mocha finish. Lovely structure, balance and length of finish. CHP 92 pts

Top Shelf tasting at local wine shop. Appearance: Clear, medium ruby. Nose: Clean, medium intensity with developing aromas of black cherry, black currant, baking spice, and green peppercorn. Palate: Dry, medium acid, medium+ tannin was soft and resolved, medium body, medium intensity with flavors of black currant, baking spice, and bell pepper with a medium finish.

Рубиновый цвет средней плотности, довольно прозрачное. На дне обнаружилось прилично осадка. В аромате вишня, чёрная смородина, ежевика, ваниль, специи, душистый перец, кофе, немного замша и корица, кожа, чуть трюфель. Во вкусе плотное, высокая кислотность, интенсивные шероховатые танины, ощутимый алкоголь. Молодо ещё всё-таки, есть потенциал к раскрытию. 91/100

Malheureusement n'a pas toughé la run. Achat du Boxing Day à Frigon.. 20 ans en cave.. Quelques déménagements n'ont pas aidé lol Pas mauvais, mais nez past peak ++ à mes goûts. La bouche se rattrape un peu avec le steak d'orignal. D'avoir passé du bon temps au camp avec mon père est beaucoup, beaucoup plus mémorable!

Middag med A+N och P+H i Sundbyberg (A+N, Sundbyberg) : (Aired for two hours) Rubin red colour with a mature nose showing cherry, leather and barnyard and some fresh grass as it opens up in the glass in a delicious way. Intense on the palate with warm cherry fruit sweetness and with some herbs on the mid to late with a very powerful body and with a lengthy finish showing an alcohol intensity. (Best 2016-2036)

2006 vintage

Still youthful ruby with touch of bricking. Medium intense nose with currants, cassis, leather, savory herbs, slightly developed secondary fruit, touch of tar and a hint of medicinal lift. Palate is medium to full bodied with somewhat developed ripe red fruit, well integrated oak, and even a touch of acidity. Finishes nice and long with pleasant tannins. Very nicely developed wine that is still in the upswing. Should drink like this for another decade and likely even improve.

88 Oct 2022 👃 pleasant light floral scent, ripe raspberry. 👅 Light bodied, tart cherry, tannic ("structured" as they would say, drying), iron? This is completely different than everyone else's notes....? It's good but not living up to what I thought of the 2015.

Tastes more like Spain then like Cabernet. Not sure if that is a good thing. Also tasting short to me. So that's like three in a row, so I guess its me not the wine. Plush in the mid palate. Maybe just opened and will broaden out in time.

Belle robe rubis encore dense malgré un signe d'évolution. Nez complexe de moka, kirch, cacao, cuir, tabac, violette, prune (ananas) et touche de champignon. Tout y est ! La bouche est ample, soyeuse, longue, bonne acidité. Succulent.

Spanish Wine Tasting (Chicago.wine - Glenview IL) : Walk around tasting. Classically Bordeaux styled with a modernist flair, this showed a meatiness with medium+ weight, ending a bit firmly for near-term enjoyment. Better from 2024, I expected slightly more here.

Mid ruby. Nose of cassis, dark cherry, vanilla. Ripe but not overripe/jammy fruit; old world style Cabernet. Palate shows great acidity, length, and energy. Fine tannins. 14.5% ABV but it’s not very obvious on the palate. Very accessible at such a young age but should improve even more with age.

Excellent, weighty wine with red/black fruits, structure, grainy but smooth tannins, cinnamon, clove, tobacco, and some hint of oakwood. Decent long finish. Sipping wine to enjoy or with rack of lamb. Did slow-ox overnight before serving for lunch next day.

First time disappointed by a Mas La Plana. Don't know what was the problem ... nose was ok, but taste bland and not much matter. Hopefully my 2nd bottle will be better , but will wait a couple years.

Deep purple, nose of rose and violets, long finish and smooth tannins. Taste of plums/prunes, yet fresh - not cooked like a port. Wish i had another bottle (sigh)

Great surprise! I tasted this blind and thought it was an expensive Bordeaux. Old world characteristics with dark fruit and full finish. Well worth the reasonable price of admission!

Cabernet from Penedes. Charred wood dominates the nose and palate. Underneath there is dark, almost black, fruit balanced with a decent structure. This bottle tasted flat, perhaps flawed.

Ruby red in the glass and the rims are starting to get a rusty color. Fresh on the nose.medium to full bodied, starts quite dry but over the evening it develops mature tastes and is full of sweet black berry fruit. Great expression of a cab from Spain.

It's a while since I've had Torres Black Label Cabernet Sauvignon, and I'd rather forgotten what a tremendous wine this can be. This is youthful but already delicious. Really impressive.

Dark red with some browning. Nice set of aromas with cassis, dark berry fruit, some greenness, leather and some toastiness. Flavours are red berries and cassis, and some pepper and sweet spices on the mid palate to finish. Nicely balanced. Love the concentration …. not thick and plodding but some nice weight to the mouthfeel. Medium acidity. Dusty gum drying tannins. A favourite steady eddy of mine. Deep garnet in color with slight brick and edges. Nose of dark cherries and hint of leather. Tastes of cherries, leather, espresso, and hint of earth. Very dry and light on fruit. Go to city but not enough fruit to age gracefully. Probably a few years past it’s prime. Drink now.

Medium crimson; a lifted classically cab nose, ripe blackcurrant coulis, liquorice, chocolate oak and a fresh leafiness with menthol and mint; good freshness on the palate, lovely weight and refinement. Very refreshing with a well judged tannic frame. Just marred a touch by pretty high alcohol on the finish.

What a fantastic bottle. I have had many bottles of the Mas La Plana over the years and this ranks up amongst the best ones I have had. One of my favourite cab sauvs from any region. An inky blackberry kind of colouring. Nice typical cab aromas … cassis, darker berries, earthiness, cedar, and a touch of herbal greenness. Flavours repeat. (Decanted for one hour) Maturing nose showing liquorice, dried fruit, leather and truffles in a very pleasant way. Still very fruitful palate with softening tannins and a nice and smooth finish showing some tertiary notes. This was good and still showing primary fruit and should keep evolving over the coming years. (Best 2016-2026)

Took a while to open up and initially we thought it was dead in the water as the nose was suspect, but this proved to be a false alarm. After a 30 minute decant it was sublime. Silky texture, tobacco, a bit of sous bois, tannins melting away. Tertiary in every respect. Possibly now a touch on the decline? Very fine. Not a wine one gets access to all that often. A real treat.

Retour des CR après quelques semaines off. Mas La Plana 2006 Acheté au domaine il y a 10 ans. Le nez est superbe . Sur la cerise noire macérée et l’eau de vie . De la prunes confites et tabac brun . Le 14.5% d’alcool me fait un peu peur. Moins dans mon style maintenant . Agréablement surpris par sa buvabilité. Soyeux et profond en même temps. Sur le cèdre et le menthol. My last and starting to show real signs of old (?premature) age. Truffle, earth and mellow tannins in abundance were the highlight rather than the somewhat muted brulé dark hedge berry fruit. Still (just) very good - but on the verge, I fear, of an imminent grizzly death! Drink up!

Très bon après une ouverture timide il s’ouvre après 2 heures. Tannins présents encore mais commencent à s’assouplir. Nez sur les cerises bien mûres et en bouche c’est aussi la cerise qui ressort. Bon encore pour quelques années sans problème

The highest score I have ever given a wine I owned before drinking it. Simply fabulous. Opulent, decadent and bursting with dark fruit flavours on the nose and palate. Zero tannins and so, so smooth. It killed me to consume the last drop. Bravo!
