Domaine Richard Rottiers Moulin-à-Vent Thorins

Perfumed, sweet ripe nose. Sweet strawberry and strawberry seeds. Very aromatic. Concentrated, rather sweet. Dark cherries, raspberries, sweet blackberry and strawberry. Some liquorice. Very ripe but with some tanins and acidic balance. Should age decently but still quite sweet. With air more balance and some darker earthiness showing, but overall slightly lacked balance against the sweet ripeness.

Deep, dark-garnet color with clear ruby edges. Aromas of raspberry & red plum, with loamy earth, pressed violet, paprika and garrigue. Fresh and vibrant on the palate, adding notes of cherry to the fruit, along with red floral & mineral high tones, fresh mint & thyme and hints of allspice. Refined through the palate, medium-bodied, with plush rounded texture, buoyant acid and lean fine-grained tannins, finishing with sappy red fruit and good overall length.

Like other Moulin a Vent bottlings I’ve tasted from this producer, this wine is quite powerful for Beaujolais. But this one tastes more floral and elegant.

Still too young, tannins not completely resolved, bit shows potential. Day 2: much more open ans generous in the nose and on the palate, cherry and raspberry fruit, quite serious Beaujolais! 90+ Addendum: Significantly improved on day 3, softer and rounder, delicious, 91+
