Mark Ryan Numbskull Bordeaux Style Red

Dark, dark blackberries, hint of vanilla, green olives(probably from the petite Verdot) big and bold, medium tannis, round and a fairly long finish. It definitely has a few more years to tame the tannis, super good bottle.

Still lovely after a bit of air. Probably a bit more open now. Coming along!

Certainly very tasty, although a bit overpriced- feels more like a solid $25 Bdx blend than something $35-$40. Kind of small-scaled and simple. Good balance of fruit and freshness. Faint and a little thin, but there's a suggestion of carefully ripened blackberry and some vague chocolatey baking spice, kind of "high and tight" with gentle tannins. Very typical young cab smell, overwhelming red fruits, alcohol upon opening. After a while things calm down and this was nicer after 2 hours. It'll be really nice in a couple of years. I was hopeful, but really this isn't ready.

Nice dark purple colour, smell of dark fruit and good with BBQ burgers but all in all, the wine is still young and would benefit laying down for another 12 months maybe. I am going to wait at least that long with my other bottle
