yum! the reserve is drinking quite well right now, and is also probably worth drinking rather than holding (at least in the 750ml size).

The wine has evolved with age, but not really in the way that French burgundy evolves. Call it more integrated than in release, and more balanced. Bricking on the rim, nose showing strawberries and rhubarb, leather, licorice. Richly flavored, slightly tart, long finish. Needs to be drunk up.

Magnum, PnP. Nose initially closed. Not much reaction to this one from guests. Body is simple but some fruit remains. Tannins not noticable. Time to drink up?

Check in time for a couple of '08s- breathe for an hour, drink over 3. Definite cherries and forest floor on the nose, with a touch of wood spice in the background. Fairly typical. Medium bodied with pronounced acid, the fruit is all upfront with bitters coming over the back end. The finish is relatively short today. The wine seems like it is in fine shape, though it is not showing a lot today. Hold and hope for some fun …

Tasted on Sunday at dinner, then again on Tuesday. At least as good on Tuesday, although not hugely better. Even on Sunday, this was a wonderful wine. For once, I totally agreed with Harvey Steiman's review that described this wine as having "a lovely pink peppercorn tinge to the raspberry, pear and tea leaf flavors, dancing lightly through a veil of fine tannins to a long, vivid finish." He was right on - 5 years ago - and this wine …

A lovely and very elegant PN. Clear ruby, nose showing raspberries and sasparilla. Sweet but with lifting acidity. Silky mouthfeel... Nice wine!

Putting on some density, but losing a bit of the zip and elan of youth. Good, but depends on what you're looking for.

terrible shame. this just fell apart over time and didn't live up to the expectations after the first 3 bottles.

No detailed notes - noticeable tightness out of the gate. Dark fruited and herbal nose, palate of dark fruits, some herbal, plenty of spice. Opens after an hour or two, still too early for this big Pinot. Plenty of acid and structure to reward the patient.

This just keeps getting better with age. One sip puts me back on the tasting patio at the winery. Dark ruby color. Spicey black cherry and floral bouquet. Super smoothe palate with nice mouthfeel and balance.

Clear ruby wine with medium color intensity, the pronounced nose displays primary aromas of raspberry, black cherry, and a little toasty oak. Secondary aroma of cedar mingles with an herbal note that is hard to pin down. On the palate, the dry, medium bodied wine shows moderately high acid with a lesser amount of well ripened tannins. Smooth and supple in the mouth, the wine shows good balance and the flavors mirror the nose with well integrated raspberry and cedar …

bottle #2 after having the 1st 8 mo ago. I think it has a more developed taste now, but looking forward to opening another in a few more months.

Second bottle in six months and I am keeping with the previous tasting score of 91 points. Nose is soft with dark cherry, earth and a slight pepper spice. This wine has a nice balance of tannin and acid and produces a soft mouth feel. The dark cherries and earth spice are prominent on the palate. This finish is shorter than a wine of this balance may typically have, but the wine is drinking well now and should have plenty …

This just keeps getting better with age. One sip puts me back on the tasting patio at the winery. Dark ruby color. Spicey black cherry and floral bouquet. Super smoothe palate with nice mouthfeel and balance. I'm still bummed that I missed the opportunity to distribute this wine in NC by only a week! I hate being second to the finish line. Should the winery ever have reason to switch, I hope BMG Cellars, LLC will be the first place …

More to follow, but I am enjoying this vintner. Solid Pinot with bright cherry and earth... There is a spice in this wine I am not able to verbalize yet but I like it. This will require more research time no doubt.

Had at Higgins restaurant in Portland, OR. Delicious right from the bottle. Lovely slightly-sweet red fruits surrounded by faint grapefruit and flowers with traces of cinnamom, nutmeg and licorice. Really wonderful with duck and blackberry and blueberry infused greens. Not tannic.

Dark ruby color. Spicey black cherry and floral bouquet. Super smoothe palate with nice mouthfeel and balance. This wine is much better than I thought possible from vines that were only 2 years old at harvest. Incredibly strong effort from Steve Goff.
