This showed a ton of Pomerol character, with dark Merlot fruit, hints of chocolate, and whiffs of truffle / mushroom. This fuller bodied wine was a real crowd pleaser, winning table WOTN. This is drinking great now, but no rush; easy ten years ahead.

Smooth drinker, very good but its fairly one dimensional, not a lot of secondary layers going on. To be fair i pnp and didn't let it decant long. Next bottle i will decant.

This is fine wine. Nuff said…but here are my notes. Decanted 2 hrs. Lovely aromas of red and black fruits with some secondary nuances of truffle and leather coming through. The palate is a classical pomerol (are they classical?) with laser precision and excellent symmetry. A nice spine of tannin and acidity ensure this baby has a long life ahead. Wish I had more. $100+ seems “reasonable.” $200 is 2 much.

Popped and poured. This is a solid red wine with some modest sediment. The nose is characterized by black cherries and chocolate. The mouth brings rich, dark fruit with a slight bit of mint; it is nicely layered and juicy throughout and folds into a chewy finish. Overall, this is a welcoming and pleasurable Pomerol. It is a pretty nice QPR relative to what’s in the bottle and available from the appellation more generally. 92 points.

Truly exquisite and elegant. Initial smell was of caramelized lavender? Is that such a thing? Made us both go wow. Taste was was mulberry, blackberry and plum. Graphite. Earthy. Truffles. Tobacco. I loved this - hedonistic with a brawny sweet fruit profile followed immediately with lovely dryness on the finish. This was classy and delicious and singing well at this stage in its evolution.

Very wonderful Merlot from Pomerol. Is just drinkable and open. Merlot as it is rare. Really great. 2nd place in a great blind spot! Just lost against the fantastic surprise winner (2005 Azienda Agricola Belvedere (Luigi Zanini) Rosso Ticinese Castello Luigi)! Surely has a great future ahead! Easily put 10 years away, but in emergency also enjoyable until now!

Dark ruby. Expressive and open for business with plum, graphite, barnyard and sweet spices. Almost full-bodied with initially firm tannins that mellowed signifficantly after aeration, ripe fruit and moderate acidity. Long aftertaste. Textbook Pomerol from a great vintage.
