We drank 2010 and 2011 together. My first 2011 and the wine is really drinking well - so balanced - both acidity and tannins are well integrated - the fruit is cherries, cranberries and also blueberries. We are also getting tobacco and forrest floor. The wine is great and deserves 93 - I like this wine - but I am not sure it will get much better.

The nose is spices and some dark cherries - on the palette so balanced medium acidity and tannins so well integrated - you get a lot of matured black cherries - I am also getting chocolate, coffee and a hint of leather I think - everything perfectly integrated - clearly a super wine - very impressed by this wine from Armilla - The wine is drinking is still drinking very well - I am happy to increase my rating to …

App: dark red Aroma: deep and complex aroma with dark cherry, leather, earth, spice and hint of wood Full-bodied with excellent acidity and great tannins. Impressive dark fruit and power in the mouth, without being too much. Excellent structure. Great length. (94) Wow, what a great experience from this small producer.

The nose was highly expressive and refined, showing pretty floral tones, spicy red fruits and minerals. It was intense on the palate, yet perfectly balanced with brisk acidity giving way to pure cherry fruit, spice and leather. The finish showed saline-infused red fruit and spice with hints of fine tannin. This is a very classic expression for the 2011 vintage and worth checking out. But be warned, production is only 6800 bottles.

This is very good - sangiovese at its best - the wine is smooth and elegant tannins and acidity nicely integrated still a lot of fruit in the wine - dominated by black mature cherries - the wine leaves your mouth with a nice long aftertaste - really a very good wine which is perfect right now - and this is top value for money

Didn't take notes, but remember I liked it. See Guitarkim's notes if interested.

Appearance: pale red with broad brown orange rim. Aroma: ripe cherreis, tobacco, earth and oak. Full bodied and big Brunello with excellent acidity and tannins. Great structure and well integrated oak. Very good length. Available already, but decant for at least three hours. Or keep for a rainy day some years down the line...

In short a fantastic wine and an insane QPR from a traditional Brunello producer that deserves greater aknowledgement. I have been following this over the last two days and there has been no change to the worse. The nose is lovely red/dark berries and very fresh. Taste is fruity, crushed cherry stones with a dryness added. Acidity and tannins present but well balanced out. It just keeps lingering in the mouth aftertaste is some 30-45+ seconds. Strongly recommended.

In a great place right now but nevertheless you can cellar it at least another 5-8 years. Cherry and leather and impeccable balance with a long aftertaste.

Tuscan tasting (Canan's place) : Dark red color with an orange hue. Sweet cherry fruit and leather on the nose. Good intensity to the juicy, sweet cherry fruit on the palate. More nuances of chocolate and leather kicks in on the midpalate. Clean fruit, lots of dry matter, bitterness and good length, everything a Brunello should be. Only thing I would have like a bit more of is personality, it is some what too easy.

Tuscany tasting (my house) : A strange smell of tomatoplant but also light cherry and a nice acidity. The taste is classic Brunello with a nice cherry base and a flattering acidity. Classical and elegant.

I'm not as enthusiastic as some of the others who have posted notes on this wine. Quite some babyfat to start out with. Lots of red fruit, juicyness and glycerin but eventually it looses up a bit and the acidity becomes more apparent. I'm more fond of this one compared to the 1999 but I'm afraid this will never be a top brunello for me. At the discount price it's a solid buy, though!

It is definatly in its drinking windue now, still fresh fruit. complety in balance, medium finish, can easysily handle more years in the cellar, but I am not sure that it will improve a lot. A very nice typical brunello, can be drunk with or without food.

The nose is intense, but the minerality creates a nice, cool side to it. There is vanilla, both red and darker berries such as blackcurrant, redcurrant and some raspberry, flowers, old cellar and a little marzipan. Great nose that needed a bit of air to open, but thereafter showed big complexity. On the palate it is intensetoo, with superb, red fruit, well integrated tannins, juicy acidity and a nice flavour of spices. It is very fruity and therefore already provides …

Last night I drank and commented on the 99. Today it was time to try the 01. In short. 01 has everything the 99 has except the pronounced presence of the tannins. They are much more well integrated here. The balance is fantastic and the wine just shows great out of the bottle. It takes no hard effort to consume this bottle. Stunning quality and exciting to see if this holds up over the coming years. Bit more difficult to evaluate …
