Bernard Dugat-Py Pommard La Levrière Vieilles Vignes

Clear medium ruby; clean medium plus nose of black cherries, red cherries, light cedar, soil, barnyard and violets; dry; high acidity; medium plus tannins; medium plus alcohol; medium body; pronounced flavour intensity; pfn with addition of cranberry and slight char; long finish; still just a baby - don’t drink for another few years; improved gradually after a 1+hour decant; high acidity cut through very rich Au Pied du Cochon dishes; not blinded

Incredibly deep purple of colour. There's plenty of punchy spice to the nose with notes of rose petal, freshly grated ginger and sandalwood. The black cherry fruit is deep and penetrating and there's a strand of licorice weaving through the flavour profile. It is velvety and full and has some Pommard muscle to the finish along with bright minerally acidity. Length is fabulous.
