Big ripe dark berry fruit, moderate tannins, pretty good acids for a Napa Syrah. There's a hint of candied sweetness that detracts a bit for me, though Dave in particular likes this wine. I don't think further cellaring would be rewarded. It's not my style, but I have to say it did remarkably well as a match for duck in a honey/5 spice sauce. Match gets an A-, the wine a B.

Had this for Thanksgiving and thought it was a little bit muted on the nose. Taste was slightly muted, but acidity and tannins were better in check. This is an assertive wine that would be great paired with Lamb or other more gamey meats. Neyers has continued to improve over time and some of their more recent vintages are better. I would buy again.

Took this to Kathy/Chris for wine tasting. Not much on the nose, but cherry flavors.

Delicious. Arrived home from college visits - had only wine and cheese for dinner - delicious syrah - sorry we only had the one bottle in the cellar.

Very forward Shiraz varietal flavor. Hits you square between the eyes.

($25) Starts off with nice aromatics of green? Peppercorns, new oak, and some sour orange juice. On the palate this wine is fairly high in acid, making it more suitable for food than drinking on its own. Some hints of roasted rocks and olives that you might find in a northern Rhone Syrah. A little pricey for what it is, but pretty good.
