Deep purple color. Nose consists of red peppers, licorice, tar, toast and cedar wood. Very nice tannins which have softened over the years. Wonderful mouthfeel with layers of mint, red figs, cherries, blueberries and toast.

Not as exciting as previous bottles. This time around, Hollis came across as boring and ordinary. a bit flat perhaps it is fading or my taste buds weren't there - I was running a cold. No score.

First Class Napa 2nd Labels & 2nd Wines -NYC Wine Tasting Group (Noho Star, New York, NY) : Outstanding, excellent QPR. elegant with the Melka signature structure, I would buy this wine again and again at this price point. With Stewart Cellars pedigree, this wine over delivers as a 2nd label.

Absolutely delightful! PnP, beautiful rich bouquet. On the palatte, well rounded tannins, dark rich fruits emerged throughout the night. A subtle hint of Oak and soil in the background, just enough to keep the fruit in balance. Structure remains. This one is ready for showtime. I would suggest a1-2 hour decant to bring out all its beauty. Day two I had about a glass leftover, preserved in a crunched up small plastic bottle kept in the wine cooler overnight. The …

New World Blind Tasting Group $25+ (Bin 75) : Dark core with light garnet rim; seems like there is some age on the nose, cooked fruit, currant, perfumed, floral, red and dark fruit, dark cherry; ashy, blackberry, dark cherry; thought this was 2008-9 Malbec.

Nice flavor. Good balance. Deep rich fruit. Probably a little young. Tannins not quite fully integrated. Give it some time and I thnk it will be very tasty.

This is the first of 6 that I have on hand. Popped & poured...Should have let this breathe for at least a couple of hours as it was thin and tight at first. Tried to let it get some air over the course of drinking. Started to show some interest about an hour and a half later. Will let the next one decant and hour or two before updating my score.

Plenty of structure, fruit and tannins, to cellar 2-5years. Very drinkable and pleasant now and will only get better with tine. Low 90s now.

Lush but not flabby. Medium tannins. Big ripe, round fruit without being too concentrated and extracted. So approachable I wanted to gulp, not sip. Excellent on its own or with food. Lost a little finesse on day 2 after a night in the fridge, but still very nice.

Interesting that this is Stewart's 2nd label, because this had the aromatics that the '06 Stewart is lacking (and I just had another bottle of the latter). Conversely, it was lacking the mouthfeel and palate presence, which is what lingers with me every time I revisit the Stewart. How 'bout a glass of both, side-by-side - he Hollis to sniff and the Stewart to drink?

Out the gate with a complex medley of napa cab characteristics. The palate exuded blackberries, boysenberries, red currant, and ripe plum. Long finish lasting 30 seconds.

Great find! An outstanding bottle of cabernet-- dark red in color, full bodied, smooth, velvety, long finish. Bummed this was my last bottle. Well, onto the 2007s!

A serious QPR star right here. Awesome nose of charcoal and menthol. The palate was full and finished with a nice subtle cedar note. Perfect balance.

A solid Napa Cab. But that was it. Unremarkable for nose and taste. Just pure Napa. Wait another few years and hope something good develops.

Color: Purple red in color, slightly lighter red edges. Nose & Palate: Spicy currants and plum, creme de cassis, medium to slightly full bodied. The tannins settle in when the wine starts to open but at first seem a tad overwhelming, but this is Stagecoach fruit and this is the 2006 vintage where tannins are on the large side. Not a bad little wine. Didn't have a chance to make a detailed review, but it was nicely fruit-forward with a supple tannin finish and a good body. For the price, a very nice wine.

This $35 bottle drinks like many $50-60 bottles. On the sweeter side for Cabernet. Smooth and approachable - no roughness to this. Excellent.
