Drank over two days. Nice and open already an hour after opening, but it just kept getting better with time. On day, it had a huge nose that I could smell even when I set the glass on the table. Ripe blackberries, some chocolate and coffee and a hint of herbs. Long and really balanced on the palate, especially on day two. At or close to its peak, but will surely keep as well.

Slight seepage on the cork but decent closure. Definite garnet with bricking up around the edge. Nose is classic Bordeaux - leather, pencil shaving and graphite. Well balanced palate - fruit fading a little - maybe baked plum. Good acidity and very soft silky tannin on the finish. Last of a case of 12 purchased in 2009 - not sure there is a tremendous upside in terms of further ageing - having drank the 1998 Le Dome last night the …

The nose was astounding, fresh, earthy, pure St. Emilion. Palate was very much what you expect from JM, but it struck me as hollow, or maybe a little past peak. Very good, not quite great.

Beautiful blood ruby color. Spicy menthol and red berries with bacon fat on the nose. Grilled meats, red berries, and bacon fat notes. Slightly thin-bodied with a red berry finish. More meat notes with a bit of funk in the finish.

Dark, deep, pretty garnet color. BBQ brisket on the nose, somewhat bizarrely. Notes of smoked BBQ, ripe, intense raspberries, and robust tannins. Quite tasty.

Blind Cabernet Franc Tasting : Ash and charcoal, raspberry and blackberry, cedary spice and mint. Quite dense on the palate, though the fruit has good depth to go with the intensity, this is very youthful and works better with food. Very good, but there is more to come with time.

Wow. This has really come together. I thought the 99 bucks paid was a stupid buy. Was wotn at thanksgiving. Mello concentrated long finish. Do not about aging suggestion as this is above my paid grade. Drink or hold.

High acidity, silky body that is a bit reminiscent of a nice burgundy. Mostly savory flavors. Moderate concentration. High quality and satisfying. One of the better wines once tried from this area.

I quite liked it. It does taste like a high quality, mature merlot. However, my tasting partner found it a little over the hill so my rating is tempered.

Really good and big nose that already has some quite mature notes. Full bodied, smooth and modern on the palate.Needs more time. (90-92)

Toasty nose - dark fruits. Very youthful; nice elegance on palate. Black fruits. Touch of earth. Not bad - a little boring.

decanted for 2 hours and enabled it to open up somewhat - bit could happily cellar for a good few years. Quite smoky and complex.

Friday Evening at the Sampler (The Sampler, London) : Very young and with no decanting it was difficult to enjoy. Very modern and blind i would have guessed new world. Dense on the nose and with a hint of overextraction. Def one for the new world lovers. For the moment one one to forget for a few years in the cellar.

Tasted blind. Dark red with a little bit of brick-orange. Nose: plum pie, currants, a little leather, sweet, but not offensively so, quiet. Medium+ body, lively accidity, flavours of dark berries, some spices, earth, a little smoke. Quite long and loveable.
