Spear, Estate Grown Pinot Noir, Sta. Rita Hills

Hoping it was a defective bottle but while the nose was a nice typical Santa Rita Hills the wine was really off . Short start and mid with some bitterness on the back end. Not the same we had last year of the same vintage.

N: Fragrant cherries with notes of flowers, poss spice P: LM body; RNDISH entry with NICE, ALMOST swtish frt (approaching threshold R.S.?) met by an astringent pucker which stays in contact with the init frt as it transitions into a LONG, balanced finish with a VERY slight spiciness, OCCASIONAL *glimpses* of a very, VERY slight bitterness, & a TANGY/swtness to the dusty tannins.
