I did not try the 09 but my guess is this is not even close to as good. Astringent wine overall with celery, oak, some fruit and no classic white pepper of the Northern Rhone. Decanted 2 hours seems not to help but will revisit this one later tonight.

Tasty, but on the simpler side of good, Northern-Rhone syrah. Blue fruits mixed with some raspberry and a velvety mouthfeel. The only issue I had with it was that it tasted like a barrel sample that had not finished malolactic fermentation. May want to give this some time before popping the cork. Some may not have liked the wine due to that note, but it brought me back to tasting in d'Ampuis.
