decanted for 3 hours and still very tight, nice mouthfeel

2021 vintage

This was special. After a full day of wine tasting in Napa, we had this with dinner and the complexity of the wine overshadowed the complexity of the meal. Multi-layered with length and round mouth feel. Excellent work!

2021 vintage

Third bottle of this wine, but my first in nearly three years. Fairly low tannins and medium-bodied. Plum and dark cherry fruit with some graphite this time around. A nice savory edge at the end of the sip that works well. Good concentration, but a little ephemeral. Great value at my $17 USD sale price. Has some of the qualities of more expensive cabernets at a fraction of the cost.

This is an excellent wine.

Austin puts out a moderately priced Cab Sauv that has high price flavors.

This is an excellent wine. It's smooth, flavorful, with chocolate cherry.

Tried 05/23/2025 Smell - blueberry and molasses Taste - heavy cinnamon, a little anise, heavy dark fruit with a little tannin and acidity Unsure how long bottle was open for. Didn't like how strong the cinnamon was.

Always excellent

Smoother like a Merlot, a little disappointed it was overpowered when paired with NY Strip steaks.

A very good wine, mellow, low acidity, smooth finish, good with food or a nice cigar sitting on the porch.

Good easy drinker for a weeknight. Juicy but not a total fruit bomb

In my search for decent Cabs at reasonable prices, I tried this suggestion from the local wine shop. Success! I was concerned that this is a non vintage wine, but this wine checked all the boxes for a decent weekday night. It has the characteristics of the grape. Besides dark berries, the nose had bell pepper and nutmeg as well. Tannins were light. Not a wine for long term cellaring. I will buy a few more bottles.

Fruity and not overly bold. Needs to open first pour not the same as second. Berry flavors. Great with Chinese

Very good wine. I would label as a good easy to drink cab.

I had higher hopes for a cab from Hope even if it was NV. Still good, but more of an "every day" wine.

An Evening in Philly with Vangone and Frias : Prado is another offering that is from Oakville, and is a step up from Block 5 in terms of aromatics and richness. Plums, blueberry pie, cassis on the nose, again with anise, chocolates and wild flowers. This has a more full body richness with a terrific length and finish. All of the Frias wines I tasted were simply elegant expressions of Napa cab

Philly CT Meetup (Pumpkin BYOB) : 9/12/23 Philly Cellar Tracker Meetup #1winelover, iamandyc, cyclist, franken berry + others Vangone and Frias tasting + other bottles I loved this wine. From eastern oakville (Fortuna vineyard). I love my Fortunas from Carter and this was no different. $175/bottle in 3 pack.

Yum

Primary, slightly confected, blueberry jammy, roasted fruit accompanied by plentiful oak flavors. Good for the style (that appeals to the casual wine drinker).

Not as well put together as the last bottle I had almost 2 years ago. A different batch of fruit, perhaps? Sweet, jammy, and toasty, lots of New Work richness and oak spice. On a positive note it does have an attractive drop of cola.

Taste like raisins or prunes. Cork slipped down into bottle while attempting to open. Not what you expect from a label with Austin Hope name on it.

Good but sweet

Cherries, vanilla oak, and sweet raspberries on the palate. Full-bodied but not overly bold, nice balance, and with some length on the finish. A crowd pleaser.

Dark ruby red. Very aromatic. Oak. Leather. Hints of pepper. Clove. Balanced. Full bodied. Cherry notes. Medium tannins. Long and very pleasant finish. Nice acidity. A very well constructed daily Cab.
