Closed last week with my first go with Marchese Antinori’s ’Il Bruciato’ (v21, 14% ABV, 38% Cabernet Sauvignon, 22% Cabernet Franc, 19% Merlot, 15% Syrah & 6% PV) - benchmark for an easy-going, gluggable Bolgheri Rosso. Dark cherry, ruby in appearance. Nose brings cedar, scorched earth, autumn leaves, plums, brambles & cassis, as well as warming spice + tobacco. Rounded m+-bodied palate, decently integrated oak, roasted coffee adding to the flavour profile, ample acidity, not much resistance, fair, gravelly finish!

Comprising 38% Cabernet Sauvignon, 22% Cabernet Franc, 19% Merlot, 15% Syrah and 6% Petit Verdot, the 2021 version of Il Bruciato is a deep ruby, ripe wine with lots of oak. On the nose and palate, dark bramble fruits and Luxardo cherries are flanked with notes of cedar, espresso, baking spices, toasted almonds, bittersweet chocolate and dried herbs. Medium-to-full-bodied, freshly acidic and without alcoholic heat (14%), it wraps its flavors with an abundance of grippy tannins. Dense in the middle …

This needs decanting not good at first but once it opens it’s quite pleasant Dark red ruby almost grant in color nice fraqunce red fruits currant sour cherry, flavors herbal with dark berry, casis, some spice and oak gives way to slight vanilla tannins are not overwhelming but are firm and noticiable Short to medium finish. I didn’t like it at first but once it open it was very nice Decent QPR for Bolgheri at under $28.00

PnP. Primary red fruits, spice, vanilla from oak, tannins is very much present and powerful. Needs lots of air to soften it. Did not decant as wasn’t sure if there was enough fruit there to take in all the air.

Bordeaux vs Super tuscans with Alf Tumble : Dark fruit with cassis and blackberries. Ceder. Good acidity and well integrated tannins. Opens up nicely with some time in the glass and shows more red fruit and complexity by the last sip. Nice!

Deep, dark reddish-purple in color. Full, forward & aromatic nose of ripe fruit aromas of cherries, raspberries & plums with overtones of earthy/dusty & floral notes, herbs, spices, cocoa, minerals & a touch of cedar. Medium bodied with a good concentration of well balanced & smooth textured, ripe dark fruit flavors of cherries, blackberries & plums with spices, herbs, minerals, cocoa & a touch of vanilla/oak. Belle tenue. Passé son apogée mais toujours agréable, généreux, équilibré. Un caractère confit se développe avec le temps. Le bouchon était en très mauvaise condition à l’ouverture, mais sans problème en bouteille. La dernière.

Antinori Il bruciato A blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Syrah by tenuta guado al tasso, one of the many estates of the Antinori’s family. The color is deep ruby with a purple ring, it smells quite complex with notes of vanilla, oaky, herbaceous, some chocolate, plums, green pepper and coffee. On the palate is fresh, well balanced, tannic and quite persistent with the coffee and herbs that come back.14%abv. Definitely with some aging can improve

Plums, black cherries, ripe red berries, sweet spice, rubbed sage and thyme on the nose. Rich and vibrant palate, with grippy tannins and lively acidity. Tart cherries and red berries with black plums, and a nice earthy, dark cocoa midpalate. A bit alcoholic, but a real crowd pleaser of a wine.

PnP at Ballo Restaurant after seeing Trans-Siberian Orchestra. The bright red fruit and balanced acidity in this blend paired well with an Italian dinner (red sauce, broccoli rabe/sausage and a balsamic reduction over skirt steak were among the dishes). Flavors continued improving 30-60 minutes after popping with hints of vanilla and clove. Enjoy now or hold.

Prominent oak on the nose: cedar, vanilla and clove. Fruit isn’t too pronounced but there is blackberry and a little bit of cassis. On the palate, it’s surprisingly medium bodied and medium in tannin and acidity. There is oak stave and distant plum. 8/18

Pnp. Still a fairly dark garnet with a translucent rim. Despite the hot 2007 vintage and the noticeable Syrah in the blend, this has very good freshness and the fruit is not overripe or burned, nor are there any oxidative signs. On the less positive side, the wood is still noticeable after 13 years and as the fruit is obviously on the retreat, this is at risk of drying out given the medium tannins. Fairly short finish. Overall nothing too …

Consider decanting this wine for a good hour. A dense nose of ink, wood, licorice. Mid-to full bodied, this bottle proves to be a wholesome relative of the Guado al Tasso family, combining elegant oak, chocolate and cedar aromas to a complex, seducing palate with lots of sweetness and silk. Cora-wined it on the first day and opened the next day to a lamb filet, where this wine clearly felt „at home“.

My second bottle of 3 and it has been 2 years since my first bottle. Consumed in a small cozy open kitchen restaurant thus I can't really tell the aroma of the wine exactly. What I recalled was a bit of leather and cherry. Taste has noticeable red fruit. Tannins from my bottle was very soft. Finishing is good with hint of menthol.
