Pnp. Nice straw color. Nose has green apple, pear, lemon, and some stone. Palate was vibrant, mouthfeel excellent, and features more of the apple/pear notes from the nose along with really nice brioche and yeast. Acidity is great. Lingering finish with some nice minerality. Excellent champagne.

Less sherbet bomb than before, and mellowing with a deeper and quite satisfying midpalate. Bubble also a tiny bit coarser than expected per last note. More brioche on the nose with a backyard of beautiful flower.

Very enjoyable bottle showing aromatic citrus and stone fruits over a toasty, brioche-laced nose. The palate is precise, with fine acidity and good drive but no austerity. Already nicely open and absolutely ready to drink young.

As before, green and yellow pear, yeast, lemon and lime juice and pith, limestone, and white and green melon notes dominate. Finishes flinty and yeasty, with the compelling green notes repeating (not underripe type of green, but racy lime-type flavors). Drinks better with more air, but begs for some sleep time. Personally, I love the energy here in its current state, but it’s a typical Dom yeast beast for sure right now.

Burgundy, Barbaresco & Barolo in Bath (La Terra, Bath) : Wow. This is terrific and much more pleasurable than a recent 2008. Lemon zest and lime Jelly Tot on first sniff. A touch of macadamia and a certain creaminess too. This is offset by some pineapple stalk sweetness / greenness. Palate is just fabulous, acids and fruit in perfect harmony. Some more citrus character on entry with some pear skin and sour apricot building through the mid palate. Lime sours …

We're in a war??? (The house of Simmons) : Blind. Fruit on the entry, brioche and bread-y on the finish. I actually wrote down, "Dom?" Because young Dom tends to give me be overly baked bread characteristic. Please hold…like 10 more years minimum. Thank me later! After reveal, my blind score makes sense. Consistent score, but will MUCH better with age. For comparison, I rated 96 vintage, 97 pts and 2008 vintage, 97 pts.

An immediate, outward-looking nose, redolent of brioche, subtle reduction, lemon zest and white flowers. The palate displays excellent mid-weight density, crisp acidity and a focused, saline finish. There is clarity and architectural control here, the reductive edge lending energy rather than severity. A textbook expression of the house style, combining restraint with quiet authority.

Third time having a glass of this wine over the past several years. Best experience so far. I have felt the bottles I've tried didn't breathe enough. They have been tight from the get go. This time it was good to go out of the gate. But did improve over the 2 hours in my glass. I kept going back for sips. The body became more substantial and the wine opened up even more throughout the dinner. Fleshy, precise, balanced …

Fantastic. Drank side by side with Krug 172, this was the winner (acknowledging the different styles) - and this is coming from someone who will pick Krug 10/10 times if given a choice. A bit unfair given the Krug needs time. So balanced between rich/toasty and elegant. Super long finish. A stunner. Definitely not a pop and pour - opens up beautifully

Much readier than the 2012 at this stage, more complex than the 2015 so this is drinking quite well. Hay color, fine perlage, nose of brioche, green apples, some chalk and zest. Hedonistic attack on the palate, dynamic mid palate, finishes toasty with decent length.

New Years Day: Vrai Champagne, Ninth Annual Edition (Brad & Marcia's Place, St. Paul, MN) : Light plus gold color. Small pour. Brief note. The oft maligned and perhaps even misunderstood '03 Dom has achieved redemption from those that panned it back on release. I always thought this was good, but it just kept getting better and better over the years. I wish I had stocked up more at this point, as mine are gone. We had the splendid '04 …

Finally, an excellent 2000 Dom. Allowed to breathe in glass 30 minutes and warm to 55F. Clear golden hue with lazy streams of ultra fine bubbles. Ethereal notes of quince paste, Meyer lemon, chamomile, butterscotch, vanilla custard, marzipan, brioche, ginger, chalk, even some hints of banana and papaya. Refined, subtle, complex, wonderful. Lesson learned, Dom needs at least 20 years.

A pale lemon color introduces this classically styled Dom Pérignon. The nose is pronounced, offering brioche, lemon, apple, apricot, green mango, and the distinct smokiness that has become a recognizable calling card of the house. On the palate, the wine is dry, medium‑bodied, with high acidity, a creamy mousse, and a long, elegant finish. The flavors are pronounced, showing a perfumed dried‑flower character, supported by citrus and lemon zest. This vintage strikes a beautiful balance between bold and elegant, showcasing …

Popped and Poured alongside a couple of other tete cuvees (Gosset Celebris 2002, Taittinger 2000 & 2012). This was vegetal and not my cup of tea. I bought this a couple of years ago from a local wine merchant, so potentially is a handling issue, but this bottle had zero brightness or fruit, but more celery and jalapeno. Maybe a sign of the vintage

October Wimps Lunch (La Trompette, Chiswick) : A magnum of this. Bright yellow colour, looks young still. Classic nose with brioche, toast, and bright citrus fruit. Initially tight fruit, solid fizz, still young but a mature digestive biscuit back note. Surprisingly good acidity for the year. Stays well and the nose got more toasty as it opened up. Very nice now but time in hand from this format.

15 year anniversary dinner. Had the 2010 side by side with the Dom 03 for the salad course (see notes for the 03). The 2010 was pale yellow in color and was so much crisper than the 03 with a lot of citrus, melon and green apple. There was a expressive minerality to it which complimented the high acidity of the wine. Can't wait to try this again in 5 years for our 20 year anniversary.

Did a side by side of the 2003 and 2010. The 03 was so much more complex and was the favorite amongst the group. The color was golden honey which was also on the taste along with ripe fruit. It paired so well with the lemon honey vinaigrette on the salad. This wine still has years ahead of it but if I had another bottle I wouldn't wait long because its in an amazing spot right now.
