Hansruedi Adank Pinot Noir Fläscher Barrique

Spätburgunder und so weiter; 6/29/2023-6/30/2023 (Noizé) : I think there was something off here. I thought I could detect TCA but the fruit was there underneath it - not sure what was going on but I suspect a different bottle would tell a different story.

Leon’s Germanic Pinots (Noizé, London) : A cool whiff of oak and vanilla even after being open almost five hours. Less overtly oaky than the 09 a couple of weeks ago, but the oak character is manifesting in a slightly curious way. Not corked, not bretty, just slightly dusty oaky vanilla. Fair to say this isn’t the table favourite. **1/2

Weird, unclean nose. Lovely, lifted, elegant, pretty wine underneath though. Interesting once you get past the nose!

Spätburgunder und so weiter (Noizé, London) : Really not sure about this one. Something not right, don't think it's TCA Something bacteriological? Something sulphurous to the nose, palate much more fun with some strawberry fruit.

In contrast to other pinot noir barrique from the same region this has heavier tones both on the nose and the palate. I perceive some overripe fruit (prunes) which covers the beautiful subtle and floral aromas that this grape in this region is capable of producing - and that might even be lingering in the background here. This might be an attempt to give more weight and complexity to the pinot noir, but it did not quite succeed, imho. In …

Decanted 1 hour. Mid cherry in colour, quite dense. Positive nose, cherry and raspberry fruit, a bit of mineral. Fresh, good attack, quite pinot and quite high acidity. Some flesh on the mid-palate but this is crisper and fresher than the other two blauburgunders tasted recently. Maintains its profile over the three or so hours its consumed. Good. ***
