Strawberry. Some oak impression, still. Youthful, straight forward.

A little lighter than usual Sanfords. Nice, but not remarkable.

Was very pleasantly surprised by this. From a magnum. Great nose. Still vibrant in the mouth. Layers of pinot fruit and spice. Great balance. Acidity. Tannin and finish. Yum

In a great place. Santa Rta nose and palate with resolved tannin.

Over-oxidized and drank as a much older wine. Cork was mushy, and showed signs of leakage and/or high temperature variation. Drinkable but flawed.

Ripe black cherry and berry start-to-finish with good depth, showing impressive energy particularly from the middle forward. Better now vs when tasted in the summer of 2018,and I think this will be even better in a few more years.

A very pleasant Pinot, but not as bold as other Central Coast Pinots. Fairly complex with a long finish.

Sanford Wine Dinner (Washington, DC) : On the nose, waves of raspberries, red cherries, summer plums, with roses, cinnamon, sweet herbs and flowers. Really velvety on the palate, the texture is rich but lively, and the fruit (black cherry, raspberry) shows a lot of concentration, yet the freshness is always there. Complexities of pepper, minerals, violets, savory spices and wild herbs. Tangy and lively with a long time to go.

Sanford Cellar Visit and Tasting (Lompoc, CA) : Popped-and-poured at Sanford. From 4 hillside blocks with different clones. Ripe black cherry and berry with fleshiness that makes it accessible now, and enough background structure to also merit cellaring for up to another decade.

Sanford Cellar Visit and Tasting (Lompoc, CA) : Popped-and-poured at Sanford. Also mostly black fruit with slightly greater density and nuance vs the Rinconada. Good now, upside from here.

A good wine but not quite as good as I remembered. Likely needs more time.

Crimson colored and an attractive nose. Spicy and black pepper wrapped with cherry and red berries. Gentle tannins. Drinking well now. Not excited about the $70 tariff.

Nose has similar profile to Bonncousi from same vineyard, earth, cherry, a little cola.. palate balanced with the nose, medium finish with the end being a little more released. A few more years and I suspect it will show even better. Very ready to serve with food today and enjoy even the current mix of flavors!

This wine has layers of fruit notes from boysenberries, strawberries and blueberries, but also some herbal notes adding a freshness. The palate is well balanced with a lime acidity and a velvety tannic structure. In the finish some spice notes also appear. This is a rather complex wine with good balance between the dense fruit and the acidity and structure.

Rather warm on the nose, with mainly red fruit from lingonberries and raspberries but also some dark blackberry notes appear. Dense and dark on the palate, especially compared with other Rinconadas I have tried. There are also some pepper notes. Acidity is good and with some lime notes.
