This still seemed quite closed. Nose was very closed, leaving a hot smell from the alcohol. Worked well with pasta with ramps, guanciale, etc, but seemed like it needed more time. Will check back in with the other bottle in maybe two years.

Tasted at the cantina with Giuseppe Cavallotto. This spent nearly two years in large Slavonian oak botti. 14.5% ABV. The wine is a dark garnet crimson color. The nose is floral, spicy, fruity and earthy...very complex. High acidity and low tannin characterize this classically mid-weight varietally correct Barbera. It has plenty of "tart and crunchy" red berry fruit...raspberry, cranberry, pomegranate. Medium to long finish. Very age-worthy though in my opinion. Giuseppe suggested that its best 3-4 years after bottling. Classy.

No formal notes, but this seemed on point. Delicious, and don't know what upside there is from here

No formal notes taken. Rich, dark fruit but with good balance from acidity. Spicy backbone and some secondary aromas. Very nice Barbera. Would like to drink another bottle under calmer circumstances.

Tasted at the Cantina Communale in Castiglione Falletto, this had been open for a day. Whereas the 2013 version is off-limits right now, this is open and ready for business. I think Nanda's note is spot on. Drink now or hold for a few more years. recommended Served non-blind. https://italianwine.blog/

Tasting at Cavallotto (Castiglione Falletto, Piedmont, Italy) : Spends two years in botti. Bottled in Sep '15. Dark purple color. Wow, big concentrated nose of plums and blackberry jam, smoky and herbal notes. Palate packs a punch with gorgeous, layered plum and prune fruits. Despite the bigger fruit profile this has precision and lift from juicy, buoyant acid. Long finish. Delicious.
