Deep purple/garnet color. Bold, berry aroma, alcohol noticable, tar/tobacco and cedar. Very tannic up front - mellows in mid-palate, then fades. Chalky, salty, tart cherries with medium body. After decanting and some air (~2hrs) - mellows out nicely. Initial tannic bitterness is not as strong. Gains a more silky feel. Still chalky.
