Erath Pinot Noir Fuqua

This was really excellent.

Black cherry and earth. Hint of spice on the nose.

Aromas of cherry and earth. Light medium bodied, with delicious flavors of cherry pie, spice and raspberry. A lengthy finish, major yum factor.

Black currant & truffle aromas. Good flavor but could probably wait a year or two.

Nice nose, slightly acidic fish. Paired with Columbia River Salmon, and could have used another year or two in the cellar.

Got this bottle at the Willamette Valley winery's tasting room for $50 and drank with various foods at Rosemary's Restaurant in Las Vegas this past weekend. The wine went especially well with my foi gras on toasted brioche. I'm going off of a three-days-ago memory, so specifics will be lacking for this posting. This is the bottle of wine that began my love affair with wines.

This is a dense highly extracted pinot, but with so many dimensions. Dried cherries combine with raspberry and spices for a lingering, complex finish. A fantastic wine.

Tasted at the Memorial Day event, I loved this. Nose of vanilla, cherry and clove combine w/flavors of caramel, cherry and a pleasing floral component...a full bodied wine w/some tannins, this is a wine cab drinkers, like myself, will really enjoy. Expect this one to last for 8-10 years. Excellent.

Tasted at the winery, passport event. This was our group wine of the day...this is a delicious wine...nose of the classic earth and deep cherry. Body is just about perfect, w/a smoky, sensuous qualiity that is killer. One of the better pinots tasted this spring, a complete surprise vs the '05, but represents the fullness of the '06 vintage in Oregon. Gary Horner is making wonderful wine at Erath, mega kudos!
