Based on my prior experience I let this slow ox for five hours after taking an initial taste. Nearly six hours after pulling the cork the wine holds a decent grip on the stems, dripping fairly quickly across the entire bowl. Earth, loam, leather and barrique dominate an Old World nose. While the tannins are balanced and well-integrated, there’s still a front to mid palate bite to remind you that this hails from Napa. Other than that, the Bordeaux characteristics …

Really drinking well, good integrated tannins. Good fruit and non fruit flavors.

Amazing Rutherford. Has really aged nicely, prime drinking window now. Consistent with others’ notes.

Color: Deep Purple Nose: Violet and Dusty Taste: Super balanced and very rich; tannins are on point with a long finish and balanced acidity; more medium body than remembered with rich raspberry preserve and blackberry notes; floral notes are nice added touch Comp’s: $70-80 Napa valley fruit; drinking well and aged well in the wine fridge; much more thinned out though and close to the end of the drinking window

My one and only bottle. This bottle was absolutely divine. Smooth and silky palate with a long lingering finish. This was at a wine dinner with heavyweights and I personally thought it was the best California wine 🍷 on the table. Had dark blackberry and some velvety chocolate notes that really enhanced the wine experience. Paired so well with the food choices as well. Bottle was drained quite quickly and enjoyed at the wine dinner/birthday celebration. 🥳 May need to …

What a great wine. Bigger style, but still in great balance. Zero flabbiness. Edges toward blackberry pie, but with good acidity so its not over the top. Well done.

Having enjoyed this new find at the winery last month I wanted to pop a bottle to share w Mrs DavidandRose. While this isn't the same wine with a two hour decant, it continues to improve w time and I suspect will be even better as tonites debate wraps up. Nice grip on the stems. Pine cone, bramble and black plum on the nose, with a hefty whiff of eucalyptus and alcohol. Vibrant, young fruit and plenty of tannins. At …

Tasted at the winery from a bottle opened 1-2 days prior. I have to imagine the air served the wine well (at 1030am). As this is after-the-fact notes aren't detailed, but this is my first on-site experience w Pina and I enjoyed the wines, which are full and well-balanced. Appreciate that they're only selling this as a '16. Its got the stuffing to last until at least 2030, possibly longer by managing aeration.

One hour double decant. Deep dark ruby magenta color. Ripe blackberry, raspberry thumbprint cookie, pumpernickel, and subtle thyme on the nose. Very smooth, dry palate, with fine, vibrant acidity. Firm, full tannins on the medium long finish. Very classic, fruit forward Napa Cab. Everything’s solid and engaging, but the finish could be longer and this lacks complexity. It’s a littmore acid driven at the moment. It paired nicely with my steak tartare. No complaints, but want a bit more for …

More acid and sour cherry notes than i prefer. Hits the front and mid palate mostly. Missing umpf for lack of a better term. Just ok. Almost like a heavy Pinot noir.

My last of these. Exactly the same as previous notes, this is one to age - showing well at this stage (must have been an impenetrable monster upon release) but will improve further. Worth decanting.

In the 2013 Napa Cab tasting. These 6 wines had subtle differences, but had rather similar profiles and quality.

Showing a bit better than before on account of a bit more age perhaps. Pina always has good concentration, though this is one of the weaker vineyards in my opinion vs. some of the others.

Similar to previous notes, even >2 years later. I find most of the '13 vintage from Napa to be 'congested'; not my kind of vintage at all. This is particularly overpriced. I prefer their d'Amato and Ames vineyards - more elegant.

This has improved a bit since the previous bottle I had about seven months ago. Right out of the bottle, this is huge on the palate and I was concerned it might be congested and overdone (like my experience with most '13 Napa cabs), but it eased up over time, still showing massive concentration and power, but also some elegance and depth. Pretty impressive in many ways, and definitely delivers for those who like a big, ripe cab. Will show …

Big and brawny, this must have been very backward for the last few years, though it's opened up quite a bit by now. This is quite intense, full-bodied, some acidity too, typical for the vintage. I still find the '13 vintage generally overdone. I generally find Pina needs more time than most and this should improve more. Pricey, though if you like power this has it.

Great value for the money...beautiful floral and fruit nose, great weight in the mouth. Dark fruit galore with classic cab elements. This has plenty of time left if you want to hold. Nice depth of fruit and a certain elegance to the wine. Very underestimated IMO.

This is a bit monstrous right now - very tannic and the fruit is there but feels very congested. This may need ten years to fully unfurl. Definitely needs decanting at this stage. On the 2nd day it was still monstrous, just yielding a bit more but not much really. There is quality here, but everything is so congested and tightly sprung.
