Domaine Lucien Boillot et Fils Pommard

Richer, riper, hotter than I would like—but then it’s the 2009 vintage and in my recent experience Boillot reds haven’t been made with a light hand. That said, it is Pommard, which isn’t expected to be delicate. I drank this with a steak and it was a much better match than salmon would’ve been. Not bad wine, and a villages that’s drinking well after 11 years—just not my preferred style.

Approximately five years after the prior: medium dark ruby. Deep dark fruit with a hint of white pepper. In the background, a very pleasant hint of savory marzipan. Energetic upon opening, it evolved beautifully over three nights, showing pleasant and very slightly funky/ musky tertiary characteristics by the end.

Poured and sat in glass for an hour. Nose same as previous bottles. Drank with a grilled fillet mignon and it paired really nicely. Now having another glass without food and maybe this wine has run its course. Bit less fruit. Oak and tannin is sneaking in a bit stronger. Still a good wine but not as good as it was a year ago. Drink up.

On open a bit flat and dusty. Took a sip right away and it gave me hope. Nice slightly tart red fruits. Poured a big glass, two pours.Deep red slightly slightly cloudy. Now an hour in the glass and this is drinking great. A great burgundy nose. Even in a much more expensive Burgundy this is what I'm looking for. It is drinking far above it's level. Lovely nose of deep cherry and clean earth; tart cherry and red currant; clean albeit some velvet texture on the finish; straightforward and so right with lighter fare; bottle disappeared quickly

brett on the nose blows off with aearation; light to medium body and mouthfeel; very good red currant and cherry, some mineral and a bit of pepper. modest earthy tannins, excellent acidity.

Not much going on when first opened, waited half an hour and it opened up nicely. Light fruit on the nose and palate, with a decent finish.

- Crimsom color with slow forming legs and aromas of mushroom, dusty and raspberry. It's balanced and has flavours of raspberry and cherry with a medium body. Leathery texture with a long finish - Still very young.

A steal at 13 euros from Super-U. Review is after the event, so no detailed impressions, but a lovely and most enjoyable Pinot.

Very deep garnet color. showed better the next day with improved lift on the nose - meaty, savory spices, black fruits, bing cherry. very nuanced for a village level Pommard.

Fresh garnet with traces of purple. The strong aroma of brett will blow off revealing bright bing cherry and violets with a defined grilled meat character. Lean and mean with high acidity.
