Seemed weak upon first opening, and pretty dusty. But after just a short time in the glass this blossomed beautifully. Strong fruit, underbrush, tea, cola, vibrant acidity. Delicious.

1969 MUGA PRADO ENEA RESERVA RIOJA- with the wire netting around the bottle in tact, we had the cork pulled and drank it along side with a 59` Torres; the colour was a healthy dark red; this wine was nicely balanced and had an elegance that stood out over all other attributes; the aromatics and taste profile had soft leather, mild earthy and spicy notes to accent the mild plum and blackberry fruit; it was soft and easy on the …

Much better than my previous bottle, which I felt was flawed. This was past peak, but still showing interesting aged flavors of dried fruits, mushrooms, earth and old wood. Delicate and fragile, showing well early on and slowing fading with time. Delicate, lacey texture and still holding some good acidity. Score for the first 30 minutes since opening.

Wines @ John's (West Hartford, CT) : The cork was a bit suspect, as it was not a very tight seal; the cork came out easily and cleanly, without any effort. In fact, the cork was turning as I inserted the worm. The wine smelt sound after I pulled the cork. As I decanted it, there was very little sediment. The aroma and taste started to quickly take a turn for the worse, becoming sharp, balsamic and heavily laden with …

An absolutely pristine wine, like it was bottled last year. Fresh, light ruby in color. Slight bricking at the edge. Velvety smooth with no signs of tannin. Strawberries, fresh and tart, red licorice, long on the palate. Black cherries too. I wonder if this is a fake bottle, but who would fake Muga? It is perfectly fresh. Tempranillo does not gain much complexity with age, but this is odd. Still, a wonderful bottle of wine!

Wow, what a treat to drink this 41 year old wine. It's in such good shape that I wonder if it was reconditioned at some point, but if so, maybe it happened 20+ years ago, because the cork was quite crumbly and the wine is clearly of a certain age. It smells like freeze dried strawberries, black pepper, and cedar. Very aromatic. A core of spicy red fruit flows over the palate and it's truly ethereal, wispy and long, with …

Old and past it's prime but it was still enjoyable. Thin body and rusty color. A bit of Muga must was still present thankfully.
