I"m not a huge merlot fan, but this was OK with pizza. Lots of green pepper, but not much else...a very simple wine.

Meh....not as happy as last time, distinctly average compared to other sparklings i've had recently. Fairly flat flavour profile, a little bland but has some toasty quality. Open something else for dec 31st!

Nice straightforward refreshing sparkling chard from chile. Nice light background of some fruit and a level of acid that would go well with any food, like most sparkling wines. Nice price point. Doesn't have the same complexity that i've had in some more pricey champagnes, or some prosecco from italy.

Dark ruby-purple color. The nose has some strawberry, some woody tones, and some heat. The palate is a bit hot, with some bright fruit, again some woody flavor, and some vanilla. Really not bad, on a par with a lot of other bulk wines.

Green Pepper Monster -- a vegetal, herbal quality just didn't want to blow off this bottle -- needed two hours decanting before it was even approachable; plum, cherries, and cedar are hiding here if you have time; a bit astringent in the mouth, short finish, tannins a bit disagreeable; will not buy again, but in its defense, improved from sub-60s to nearly 80 points by the third hour

Perfectly acceptable, reasonably priced every day merlot. Pretty predictable but none the worse for that. Not a patch on the Ironstone Vineyards cabernet franc though, which is only a pound more.

I took a pair of half bottles of this to a friends house last night. I recently bought a case of 24 half bottles for about $2 per 375ml bottle. 70% of this is aged for 8 months in small American oak barrels. This is a blend of 90% Merlot and 10% Carmenere. I was impressed by the quality in this wine. Plenty of jammy fruit. Firm but approacable tannins. A creamy texture with notes of cassis, blueberries, pencil lead …
