The wine has held up well. Beautifully balanced with nice dark fruits running through the wine. My last bottle unfortunately.

Seabrook Beach Trip 2023; 7/8/2023-7/15/2023 (Seabrook Island, SC) : From magnum. Very classic Cali cab with a touch of Bordeaux earth. These wines need time and this has benefited from it

Cork disintegrated even using wine pull but after decanting wine is still fantastic and going strong.

Popped and poured; left some of the wine in the bottle, refrigerated, and finished the following day. This is a solid red wine with no real signs of age. On the nose, I get tobacco, leather, blueberry, fudge, and orange peel. In the mouth, this shows a slight green note from the Cab Franc, but is more notably characterized by black fruits and oak, leaving a round, smooth impression. The finish is juicy yet chewy, with a touch of acid …

Completely integrated. Everything is hanging on but you can tell the fruit is about to show itself the door. For so much Cab Franc I was surprised there wasn’t more noticeable green peppers etc. Instead it was more the whiff you may get when someone else at the table orders a sizzling plate of fajitas. Ripe dark berries, black cherry, charcoal briquette, raspberry coulis, mushroom.

Absolutely floored by this ... Love when I can get my hands on early Realm wines, and this was no exception! On tasting the first word that comes to mind is 'fresh', as if it was just released ... I've had wines a decade younger that weren't on the same level of freshness. Dark ruby at the core with only a hint of fading at the rim. Blue fruits (black cherry) dominated both on the notes and on the palate, …

Popped and poured. This is a darker red wine. The nose brings cherry candy syrup, mint, and a touch of orange peel. In the mouth, the cherry candy continues throughout a lush and full sensation. The finish is long, with sweet red fruit that ultimately becomes a bit heavy. Overall, this is a concentrated and modern wine. The wood influence shows its hand a bit. 91 points.

Home with some carnitas, needed something "bold" to pair with them...been a few years since last bottle. Cork broke/crumbled on the way out, strained and decanted for about 30 minutes, drank over an hour. Dark, inky garnet. Nose showing dark berries, cherry, licorice. Palate of dark berries, blue fruits, savory, smoke(?), leather and earth notes. Persistent through the mid palate with some sweetness showing. Medium weight and finish. In a great spot right now. I have bee skeptical of Calif …

Napa 2018; 6/28/2018-7/3/2018 (Napa) : We seem to either be in the minority on this one or served a bottle with variation because this showed really well during our tasting at Realm. Drank black, pink edges, floral fruit deliciousness with tea notes and herbal mineral secondary notes starting to develop.

Similar to my notes on this wine from almost two years ago. This particular specimen was from Magnum. With some swirling in the glass, this delivered some nice earthy black cherry, purple plum, leather, dry topsoil, and dusty spice notes. Some funk on the tail end swirled around the core flavors as well. Medium bodied and agreeable. Stylistically, this 2007 seems much different than the now more modern versions coming out of Realm in more recent vintages. Drink the 2007 …

At home, splash decanted and drank over 2 hours. Cork a bit dried but no problem with the wine. From their first vintage for this wine, purchased direct and resting in my cellar since... Medium garnet color. Nose showing berries and floral notes. Rich and juicy palate, drinking younger than its years. Dark cherry, leather, savory notes. Wood and some green peppers through the mid palate w some sweetness. Medium weight, tannins fined. Generally not a fan of CA Cab …

Realm : Another "library" offering, this 2010 Falstaff had a little more verve and energy than the 2009 Tempest served before it. A somewhat tart pop of black cherry on the initial sip gave a first impression of youthful, higher-toned core fruit, but then ripe plum and cassis notes rolled in. Some old leather and grandma's photo album on the back end. The finish was clipped and somewhat bitter. For me, this was a little disjointed, as though it was …

After an hour decant this new world Bordeaux blend opens up to a rich, concentrated wine with dark fruit, plum, chocolate and cassis. There is almost sweet-like quality to this wine with nice balance and acidity. Very smooth after decant and fun to drink.

Inaugural vintage of the Falstaff bottling from Realm. Around 75% Cabernet Franc. Deep garnet red with some bricking on the edges. Lovely and complex nose with cassis, forrest floor, leather, a little green pepper and some gamey notes. Cassis carries through on the palate with soft dark fruits and some woody notes. Even a bit of tomato. Moderate tannins (6.5/10) and full bodied. Well integrated and long finish. Drink till 2023.

Bright ruby red. Has developed nice complexity with the bottle age with aromas of berries, spice, and lovely floral overtones. Juicy and fleshy on the palate with velvety tannins. A blend reminiscent of a right bank Bordeaux with 66% Cabernet Franc, 13% Cabernet Sauvignon, and the rest equal parts Merlot and Petit Verdot.

Realm Cellars (Realm Estate, Napa) : Tasting with Juan at Realm. A very nice example of a Cabernet Franc-based wine with a few years under its belt. Pretty well resolved with still with some decent verve to provide lift. Nice black cherry, black raspberry, leather, and a little earth notes. My pour threw off a ton of sediment, which gave the finish a bit of a bitter clamp. But when sipping from my girl's glass, the finish was absent any …

I bought this at auction, so I am going to chalk this up to a badly-stored bottle. With that caveat, here are my impressions of this particular bottle: This round and juicy Cab Franc blend tastes past its peak. Purple in color, full in body, nose of raisins and cough syrup. Tastes of plums, black cherry, pepper, and cedar, with a finish that lacks even a trace of acidity. Blend of 66% Cabernet Franc, 13% Cabernet Sauvignon, and the rest …

A few comments from memory after tasting over the weekend. Had this at the winery alongside '13 Farella, '10 Bard, '12 Tempest and '13 Bard. Needless to say, this was a spectacular tasting. It was great to see this almost 10 year old wine from Realm aging so well. It was plush and powerful, while also very nicely integrated. It reminded me that I can actually really like Cab Franc when put together well. This was yonster24's favorite of the …

Opened and allowed to breathe for 90 mins, followed over 2 hours. Early on the Cab Franc body shows through with a dark nose and modest black peppercorn spice and bell pepper. As time wears on there's saddle leather and young tree twig on the nose, dry dark fruit (blackberry, black cherry). I also taste the charcoal mentioned by others. Stunning wine for its pedigree; tried this with the winemaker at 720 wines and picked up a few bottles, wish …

Decanted an hour... very impressive 1st time with this wine, flowers and a sweet perfumed aroma of cool fresh forest after a rain; dark berries and truffles supported by silky / structured tannins and lingering mouth watering tastes. This is one of the better Cab Franc dominated wines I've experienced from Napa... kind of like a younger brother to Derenoncourt CF.

This wine was good. Not sure if it was worth the $75 price tag. Uncorked with a medium cherry colored stain on the palate. A waft to the nose from the bottle was rather devoid. Not really ANYTHING here. Checked cork and it was fine. Wine poured a deep red into the glass. Swirl and the nose showed a very delicate bouquet of wildflowers and red fruit.
