Dense, ripe and chewy, almost like a port, with flavors of blackberry liqueur, plum, walnut, espresso and dark chocolate.

Two hour decant. Deep dark magenta color. Black currant, espresso, almond poppyseed muffin, and subtle salami and sage. Smooth, dry palate, with good acidity. Firm, medium intensity tannins on the longish finish. This is solid for the vintage and price point, but it’s more brooding than I typically like. It’s definitely got a Syrah vibe as well.

Concentrated Showing blueberry jam, cherry, flower and caramel. Full bodied, low to medium acidity and smooth tannins. Big for a cab franc, nothing subtle here. NI:4, FI:23, FC:10, B:4, L:5

Two hour slow ox. Very deep dark purple magenta color. Blackberry, cayenne-infused dark chocolate, black currant, and subtle grapefruit rind. Smooth, dry palate. Firm, medium intensity tannins on the medium long+ finish. Based on others’ reviews, I was worried this would be especially tight. I can assure everyone that this is open for business. A one or two hour full decant would make it even better.

Gift from Jamie & Greg. Solid Cali cab with long live ahead. California vanilla absolutely but with enough dark fruit to make it a solid wine. Give it air (2 hours +)

Natural cork. Purple in the glass. On pnp it was very acidic and not a lot going on. Someone described this as medicinal, the nose has some menthol/licorice notes. The wine is still tannic and dry. Primary flavours are light red fruit. I expected jammy given the source but it's quite restrained. Hard to pin point why but I found this wine flat and simple. An OK wine but not great.

My last of five bottles. No change since the last one a year ago, still tightly wound black and red fruits, tannic, tart. Similar to many 2018s I have had, was absolutely delicious in the early drinking window, now not so much. I bought the first few at total wine, the rest from various web based retailers, for what that is worth. 82% Cabernet Sauvignon, 11% Malbec, 6% Petit Verdot and 1% Cabernet Franc, aged 22 months in 100% new …

Intense showing blackberry, spice and unriped cherry. Medium to full bodied, bright acidity and well integrated tannins. Alluring but not the oumph of the 2016 and 2017. Still a good wine though. NI:4, FI:22, FC:8, B:4, L:4

From the label: "delivers an intense, rich wine that is pure Napa Valley." Yep: and that's the problem.... This is the first California Cabernet I have tried in several years. Those of you who have read my reviews know the disdain in which I hold what's going on out there these days. Why did I try this? Only because my wife had tucked it away in the winerack in the kitchen. I had no idea it was there, and I …

Decanted for 2 hours. Not great or very complicated, but a bit of red berry and pleasant enough, though I like the Markham better in this price range. QPR about 1.

This was so much better a year ago. Have had two bottles since with similar notes. Decanted and Drank this over 4 hours, didn’t improve much. Muted blue fruit, drying tannins. Not much in the mid body or finish. Sourced from several well known vineyards, including Missouri hopper. These 18s are shutting down fast. I will stick with the regular Napa cab moving forward

Tasted at the winery. My favorite cab of their 2018 lineup. Dark fruit and cassis with some tobacco, oak/vanilla notes. The structure is there for aging this for some time. Firm tannins with great acidity that should resolve beautifully with time. I will try to hold this for 8 or so years but we will see if I can hold off that long. 14.5 abv

Vinetasters: Cabernet Franc (Skokie, IL) : Served double blind. Very much in line with the previous wine; they both have the same very ripe notes but also the same diluteness on the palate where the complexity seems to fall off. As with the others in this flight, absolutely no cabernet franc character whatsoever. Less bitter than the previous wine, but also in general less flavour altogether. My 4th, group's 4th.

This has shut sown considerably compared to the bottle I drank earlier this spring. Very tight, fruit is muted and has receded behind the dominant alcohol and tannins. Popped and poured and drunk with dinner. The ‘18s seem to shut down earlier than many recent vintages.

Way to early to assess this wine as it was tighter than Tight it has its best years ahead for sure. With that said solid nose of plum and dark berries with tight almost slate like tannins what are gritty and poised to smooth over time. HOLD For now enjoyable drinking though.

Big and bold, medium heavy fruit forward Modern Napa Cab. Its a bit more approachable than some of the 18s I had, and has good acid balance. Fruit profile is blackberry and plum and its ample. Like many 18s I feel its best days are ahead. 93+ now with a couple points higher in the future. HMC
