2002 Burgundy, round 2 (Noize) : A remarkably rich and deep wine that was dark and smoky, and musky and truffley, yet with some mintiness and an airy quality too. Chewy and dark on the palate too, with a decent finish. This wasn't particularly finessed, and may well improve in that regard, but it did taste good.

whoa!! what a beautiful wine, and ridiculous value. This has really put on weight over the past decade, and now is rich, round and long. Dark cherries, black soil, lovely mouthfeel. no hurry to drink, it should easily keep another 15 years. magnificent for it's level!!

Really outstanding 1er cru of great depth. Deep black cherry nose, with hints of pine, mushrooms, and warm earth. Lovely sweet cherrystone and granite on the palate, with a light grip on the finish. An incredible value, and wine with plenty of good development to come.

Almost at peak (and my last bottle). Still slightly firm tannin, rich, deep and dark (black and blue) fruit, pronounced mineral streak, a marine/saline element to its sturdy, borderline rustic finish. Very flavorful. Good plus.

Bright medium red - still no bricking. On opening it was a bit tight and dumb so left in decanter for 2 hours - opened up beautifully. Very pure cherry, red fruit nose and a whiff of cedar - little secondary notes as yet but a lovely fresh nose. Palate was medium bodied, lovely structure and depth with nice length and fresh acid finish. Tannins are ripe but still firm so goes lovely with food - absolutely lovely with duck. …

Short decant at anniversary dinner. Dark in color for a pinot. Earthy nose with mushrooms and dark cherries, med-full bodied, dark in color. Nice finish. Great food wine that was pretty versatile over a wide-ranging menu.

Tasted over two days. Deep aromas and flavors of pinot extract, sturdy, intensely minerally soil (which, together with its acid level, contributes to a slightly sour note in the finish), and a very appealing, if slightly rustic, local brambly quality that runs all through the wine. Tannins are still noticeable but fine and sweet. This is showing vastly better than a couple of years ago and needs just another year or two to be at its best.

Darker ruby hue. Nose was full of musk notes, camphor, and high-pitched blueberry scents. Multiple layers of cool blackerry and blueberry flavors, complex and ever-changing even within each sip. Tannins structured but nonobtrusive, acidity plenty lively. Long, linear, interesting finish. Pleasant amounts of grip. Highly enjoyable wine, very early in its evolution, with tons of upside.

Extremely aromatic. Nose of rich cherries and mushroom. Tannins were pure silk as flovors of black cherries, flowers and a touch of earthy shittakes coated the palate. Delicious. Really impressive. This bottle was absolutely gorgeous. Disclaimer for those who may be cellaring: this was in the wine shop in the racks since release (no temperature control - slightly warmer than cellar conditions). Bumped it up 2 points as I am still gushing over this wine (2 weeks later).

loaded with the works. deep cherry fruit and flowers and earth. young and a bit hot on the nose but a mouthful of very fine burg. still stiff with tannins on the very long finish. this will be a treat to enjoy over the next 15-20 years. I love this producer and have yet to have a really disappointing bottle of wine from him.

2002 Red Burgudy Tasting (Thyme - Chicago) : Group ranked this 90 points with broad range of 82-94, most clusted in 89-93. Dense Blackberry nose with rustic edge Dry cherry flavors dominate wirh peppery quality. Tightly wound with good underlying richness and toasty quality. Gained weight with time, but still quite hard at this stage. Some noted an herbal earthy quality that was described as harsh. "Seems like it was bottled yesterday" was one quote.

Blind Horizontal Tasting of 2002 Red Burgundy (Thyme - Chicago IL) : Blind horizontal 2002 red Burgundy tasting. First aromatic sense was blackberry and blueberry, which made me wonder if this wasn't Burgundy. Flavors were then inconsistent with the nose, seeming lighter and herbal, with the fruit well hidden behind big tannins. Really harsh and off-center tonight.
