Maybe a bit past it but beautiful wine all together. Soft floral and dried fruit aroma and that theme continued in the palette. Almost port like with dried figs, dates, and dried prunes with rose petal aromatics. Bit of a shoulda coulda woulda wine but i picked it up knowing it may be a bit past its drinking window. A little bit thin and body-less but beauitiful wine anyway.

This pours medium ruby in the glass with little if any bricking. The nose is just lovely traditional stuff. Aromas are of cigar, menthol, fire pit, green tobacco leaf, dried blueberry, fresh blackberry, and rose petals. The palate is also very appealing showing a gorgeous blueberry mid-palate, turning to firm gravel and tobacco leaf. Won tqo btls on auction for peanuts. One with sepage. We opened the injured btl tonight, and it was awesome! Spearmint Oz Shiraz with a full deep dive immersion into Oz red soil. Taste is excellent, receeding tannins, lively acids and interest to last a whole dinner with happiness and longing for the next btl. Final btl in 2 or 4 years from now. Better than the Euphonium btls we enjoyed some years back.

Lovely nose, no a gorgeous nose with lots of green and black fruits. Very good, full fruit on the palate. Maturing, but still very good, although it seems to have faded a bit since the last time I tried this wine in 2008.

A deep wine of ripe red fruit and complex cinnamon, pepper notes. Grew in the glass as we drunk. Long and savoury. This is new world, yes there's sweetness but a balance of acidity too. This is Henschke's entry wine at 20 years, WOW.

I really enjoy pulling the cork on this wine, it has been consistently delicious throughout its life and has now reached a soft gentle stage where the fruit is still the main feature but the structure has melted away. Given it's position in he Henschke hierarchy it is a huge testament to the wine makeing skill and ambition of the estate. A complete gentle glass of wine.

Seems this bottle was at near peak compared with previous 3 that I purchased at same time late 2002 in Auckland,NZ. With each progressive opening over last 15 yrs this wine has blossomed with more fruit and balance and less rustic tannins. This wine was just great! Still has some darker red fruits, but very well balanced with tobacco and cigar and leather. It's a deeper wine, but the alcohol is in no way overpowering. Really delicious. Drank next to a '98 Johann's Garden and this was the winner.

If you come across any '98s that have been cellared well, pick them up! Classy wine, incredible value. The nose on this is Keyneton is one of the best I've had. In the mouth it is a delicately balanced profile of cola, cinnamon and clove. Tertiary is king. This is exactly where you want it to be at this age. And will hold a few more years yet.

Terrific, aged wine Minty eucalyptus currant and cassis on the nose. Palate showed the same with awesome acidity and soft gritty powdery tannin. Finish went on for a few minutes. Loved this wine. IMO, drinking 100% in its prime now.

smooth; tapered at start and finish this moderate bodied wine. It has past its prime but could still appreciate the textured wine and what it was like at prime. Still drinkable but again, it is going away to the grave

what can I say. For an entry level wine this is sensational. I always loved keyneton estate and this in no doubt confirms it. Lovely ruby colour. Perfumes of mint, cinnamon overplayed with that aged notes of earth and dark stewed fruits. More of the same on the palate with well integrated tannins and a silliness that feels the mouth. Cedar and cigar box nose and a reddish, cherry colour. Medium bodied. Serves up exactly what you'd expect of an aged 15y/o Keyneton. It's 3-4 years past peak and sits between the great '96 and '98s but still a delight to drink. Serious value on secondary market.

Dark fruit, coffee. Menthol and some herbal notes. Very advanced and a shorter finish that did not match the mid palate.

Decant it for two hours. Definitely on the tail end of life as the expected boldness was waning a bit. Quite smooth and enjoyable

Drank this after the 1993 and really preferred the 93. Started to open up after an hour or so. Probably needs more time and to be left to breath a little more.

On the nose it smelled like Burgundy. Cat pea and all. Over the course of dinner it really opened up and gained considerable complexity. At first I hadn't read the label and didn't realize it was a blend instead of all Syrah. I kept thinking, they've added cab to this, to give it more tannic structure than Syrah has. All in all an excellent and food friendly bottle of wine that is ready to drink.

Remarkable wine. Excellent ruby with no real discernible lightening at the rim after 13 years. Very pretty nose with red fruit, eucalyptus and mint-reminds me of an old-time Heitz Marths's. Silken entry but plenty of fruit and body. Good stuff. 4-13-16-8: 91/100.

Tremendous sweetness that is light & flavored with plum. Accented with eucalyptus & a hint of black tea on the finish. Very nicely done & in no way overdone.

A bit of funk on the nose that slowly dissipated over 1-2 hours in a decanter. Other than the slightly funky nose the wine drank well. Very smooth with a moderately long finish. It definitely improved with time in the decanter. This bottle may have been slightly corked but it also may need more time in the bottle. I will wait a year before trying another bottle.

Cellar Lovin' In Tim's (CLIT) (Tim's House) : Light garnet color. Big stinky nose, sweetness++ Old? Mature, almost off kinda nose & first taste after pop & pour, may need time to open up. All up front. Burnt dark cherry, oak, old world?, but seems at the end of it's life. This did lose it's vinegar note I was getting right out of the gate and became more complex, but still at the end of it's life, drink up.

colour still a vigorous red , cool minty ripe fruit on nose, plenty of interest, very balanced on palate, ripe but not at all over the top, lovely warm elegant finish. Top aus wine and best bottle yet.

Big & rich. Scents of black fruit with a hint of cool menthol. Sweet, in that Aussie way, but not a bit overripe. A real beauty that is drinking well now.

Wine-Pages Nottingham Offline (Pretty Orchid Restaurant, Nottingham) : This has a very herby blackcurrant and blackberry nose. Lovely palate. Very elegant indeed. Lovely depth and superb balance. A very classy wine indeed.

Interesting. Fairly dark colour. Nice nose of candy, meat and tar. Light body. Strong perception of sweetness on the back. Dried fruit elements, flower petal textures and some conflicting rooty notes. More intriguiging than pleasing overall.

Negociants Tasting : Still very young, but it was popped and tasted, and needed to be looked over a little bit more to get a clear impression. However, seemed like a decent if not exceptional wine.

2000 vintage

Tasted over two nights. Night one: closed nose - just a hint of cassis. Fruit driven palate - very little complexity - clearly still youthful. Generally well balanced but with firm tannins. Night two, after being stored in the fridge, this opened up to show a more expansive palate, nice structure and slightly more complex than the previous night. Blackcurrents, blueberries and smokey oak. The tannins were still present. Enjoyable.
