Festa del Barolo Sydney 2017 (Prince Sydney, 40 Hansard Street) : Acetone, cherry, slightly dusty, sweet spice, a little earthy note. On the palate a little astringent and bitter, grippy tannins are slightly chalky.

Barbera and Dirupi Tasting 2019 (Prince Sydney, 40 Hansard Street) : Oak, cherry, fresh herbs, sweet spice. Sharp acid, sweet cherry fruit, spice, slightly drying mid palate, talc textured grip. Young.

Excellent Q/P****$$$ Très beau Barbera d’Asti

Dark red cherry color with little rim variation, on the nose there were notes of red cherry and plum with further notes of anise, on the palate, I found notes of tart cherries, strawberries, licorice and an underline of anise which followed through to the finish. The finish was short and tart I was hoping for a longer length. This is a good entry level Barbera.

Blackberries, spice, vanilla, could sit a year more in the bottle.paired well with meats and cheese and pasta. Acidity was perfect.

Couleur violacée. Barbera très épicé aux accents de bois torréfié et aux tannins encore rugueux. Par surcroit, le fort taux d'alcool contribue à rendre le tout râpeux. Cela demandera bien sûr à se fondre longuement plusieurs années , mais, il ne faut pas me tancer, ce n'est pas moi qui ouvre des bouteilles si jeunes et si dures. Ce n'est pas vraiment ma tasse de thé. (NC)
