4th and 5th of 12, opened 60 minutes, perfect corks and levels, as July bottle with nice acid lift to flavours, not quite the drive I'd expect from Cazetiers in a fine vintage, but upgrade likely if it puts on some weight as it rounds out properly, upside, 10+ years. VG+ (16.5).

2010 Burgundy: 15 years on (Noize) : Not sure what happened here - heat/cork issue perhaps, or a brutish form of closed-down? I first tried this wine 12 months ago and it showed beautifully then (NA93) but tonight it was muddy and the dark fruit verged into the realm of tomato. Didn't finish my glass. Still, not bad to have only 1/12 wines showing any kind of issue.

Nicks 2010 Burgundy dinner (Noizé, London) : opened a couple of hours earlier, slightly raisiny on the nose and high toned, kirsch, strong acidity and some heat, an off bottle i think

Drinking in a good window right now, a bit darker and less fruit forward with some secondary nuances coming out. Paired well with food, but was also enjoyable on its own.

Pretty good fruit, but one-dimensional on the nose and the palate. It was just not what a fine Gevrey premier cru from an excellent vintage should be. Forgettable.

3rd of 12, pnp, perfect cork and level, better, rounding out and showing greater complexity, third of bottle even better two nights later, attractive if nothing special, clear upside, 10+ years. VG+ (16.5).

2010 Red Burgundy (Allen & Overy, London) : Meat, iron, good lift and gentle spice on the inviting, attractive, complex nose: a super first impression. Deep, rounded and full of flavour - frankly delicious to drink - although a slightly dry finish that may improve with a little more time in the bottle. My third favourite wine tonight.

Pale garnet in the glass. Developing nose showing a combo of fresh and dried red fruit mostly with a splash of spice. Good, smooth Pinot Noir, but one without too much potential.

2nd of 12, opened an hour, perfect cork and level, as last January's bottle, still a bit weedy/dilute and one dimensional, pure though and with time in hand, nice enough but would have expected more in this vintage from this climat, upside, 10+ years. VG (16).

Vosne or Volnay? : This was quite dense with dark red fruit, but seemed a little light in structure at the same time without much depth. Quite old-school winemaking with rusticity but fruit became more expressive with time that gave it better balance. Thought this was a Volnay but turned out to be the ringer.

黑樱桃、李子、香草、甘草和一点湿地气息。香气纯净,单宁丰富,在酸度的串联下均衡完整,有来自土地的质朴感和厚重感,收尾略有苦味。

1st of 12, pnp, perfect cork and level - dark but bright, quite dense ruby, hint of brown on rim; red and black berry fruit, quite spicey, pure if not very complex; medium, ok length, bit dilute and tad sharp, some unresolved tannin, nice clean if simple flavours, some upside, good for 10+ years. VG (16).

Garnet core, 3mm rim fading to white, no hint of brick red yet. Damson and embers on nose. Long legs. Cherry plus tinned strawberry initial palate, then tannic hit and good acidity. Drying finish, but well balanced, a touch shorter than hoped. Likely better in 5 years as tertiary kick in and tannin fades a touch more.

Bright, fresh fruit: lingonberries, cranberries. A bit thin. Very acidic. No complexity yet. Reminiscent of a 1996 burg: acid dominated.

The wine clear, in pale ruby colour, with legs and petillance Clean on nose, medium + intensity, red fruit with the armoa of cherry, raspberries, a hint of vanilla oak, clove, thyme, tobacco, tea leaf and white pepper spiciness. After open up for 1.5 hrs, it turns to a more jammy and ripe fruitiness aroma, pleasent on nose. on palate, it was dry, medium + acidty, with medium tannin and alcohol, medium body, and medium intensity flavour, with bitterness and …

Dark, earthy, rich - classical Gevrey - not elegant but well balanced. Beginning to show mature notes and drinking well at this point like many burgs from 2006. Nice wine.

well - this might later become an 88 or a 92… med bodied with an uninteresting nose on night one, tasted fine but simple, sort of like a version (the better version - i.e. not over- oaked/extracted/fruited) of a $25 domestic pinot, basic and simple but not over-done, on night two it picked up just a hint of tanginess on the fruit, just a hint of some edge (acid/tannin) and seemed like it was saying just wait… could be that …

Very good Cazetiers for a moderate price, paid 39 €. Typical 2006, accessible, straightforward fruit, good acidity, smooth tannins, not the gratest depth and complexity but very very good. Had no disappointments with 2006 recently, think most are very good drinking now.
