Domaine des 2 Ânes Corbières Fontanilles

Very masculine wine. Even though they use only stainless steel tanks, some cedary notes emerge from the nose. Then plenty of garrigue, leather and a touch of earty notes. Dark fruits, kirsch and dark cherry both on the nose and palate. Licorice.

Barnyardy nose - some definite manure stink going on here. Fairly intense in flavor - medicinal cherry predominates, with a bit of bitterness on the finish. Decent budget wine.

Pronounced menthol aroma with cassis underneath. Robust flavors of plums and licorice, lingering licorice and spice finish. Some heat. Full bodied, somewhat rustic, but nice rich fruit and good balance. Excellent wine, especially at the $14 price.
