Helder, licht granaatrood. Zuivere neus, medium intens, wat ontwikkeling: peper, vlezig, onderbos, opgelegde kersen. Na walsen tabak, kersen, paddestoelen. Droog, met eerder hoge zuren, medium+ tannine, hoge alcohol. Medium body, heel elegant. Medium smaakintensiteit: tabak, rood fruit. Lange afdronk, evenwichtig. Uitstekende wijn, kan nog bewaren.

Wow, really enjoyed this wine. So good with pasta amatriciana. Cherry surrounded by secondary earthy flavors. I've been drinking too many young Barolo's. So nice to have one that's been sitting in the cellar for a few years. Ready to drink now.

Nebbiolo Night! (David's Place, Hamilton, ON) : [Tasted Double Blind] This pours light ruby in the glass with light bricking. The nose shows glimpses of something nice, but ultimately it’s held back in intensity showing soy sauce, dried orange peel, woodsy mulch, raisins, and a vague touch of rose petals. With time the nose only grows more tired. The palate enters on dried cherry with medium minus tannin and medium plus acid. The finish turns heavily to leather and raisins. …

Perfectly balanced and aged Barolo with life still left in it. Tannins are perfectly integrated and smooth, enough acidity left to balance fruit and give full mouth feel with the slightests of puckering. Hints of cocoa and spice on nose. Maraschino Cherry on taste with hints of liquorice, chinato. Wish I had more.

Bought 3 of these and this is the last and was noticeably light through the bottle compared to the other 2 so I feared there might be something wrong with it. It was indeed comically pale in the glass but oddly enough better than the other 2 in that it wasn't dank and tired, just seriously old and pretty unrecognisable to me as "wine". It looks more like an old rose than an old red wine, a sort of tawny …

Slightly off smell at first. Better with an hour or so of air. Decanted for sediment. Nice red fruit (cherry, raspberry), strong floral - rose, nice spice, earth, slight violet, good acidity. Bright - nice complexity. Really enjoyable

Fully mature showing oxidative, aged notes as expected. Tannins totally integrated, smooth body. Medium+ finish. Great acid. Double-decanted 5 hours prior to consumption.

Corked and completely clapped out anyway. You could tell there was some interesting pickled walnut and cherry aromatics going on underneath, but sadly undrinkable. I am increasingly cross with the charlatans who sold this to me on the promise of greatness. Sure, you have to take old bottles as you find them but all so far opened have been well and truly past it.

Lkh’s bottle, upon opening dead, after 2 hours complete revelation, Umami smell, soya sauce, really needed 2 hours, good body, evolving nose, minty at end, we opened 2 bottles of the same tonight both good but really needed the 2 hours airtime

Nose of cherry and tobacco. Medium body, complex palate of ripe red fruits, earthy spices, some caramel in the distance. Long delicious finish. We had it with chicken liver, it paired amazingly. Great Barolo!

A very good showing of this, that weightless yet powerful thing you sometimes get in elegant older Nebbiolo. Rose petal and tar nose, solid palate with red cherry, balsam, and leather. Quite long. A-

First of 3 bottles of this purchased. Some ullage, fill level was mid neck. Cloudy red-brown but still quite dark. Nose initially quite closed but opens up after about an hour: coal, walnuts, coffee (like a coffee and walnut cake!), hint of dark fruit, some volatility. Palate is a different story: a surprising amount of dark plum and fruitcake, and enough acidity to say it was still alive. I doubt this would improve, and whilst there must be significant bottle …

I’ve had great luck with this wine judging from some of the reviews. There’s a lot of potential variability in storage that can occur over the life of a bottle like this but it’s evident that this batch of bottles (sourced from an Italian cellar by Chambers Street) was kept in pristine conditions. The wine is medium garnet and clear with very little bricking around the edge and a fair amount of fine grained sediment at the bottom of the …

(Decanted for one hour) Brick red colour with a lovely maturity on the nose showing violets, chocolate, liquorice and hip roses in a very pleasant way. Nice and smooth on the palate with a lovely fruitiness and liquorice notes in a delicious way. (Still showing very fine with 50+ years in the bottle)

Stood upright for 4 days, slow oxed for 2 hours, high fill & cork in good shape, Easter dinner, pale red, first taste nose of cherries, moss & substantial fruits in the mouth, full of life for a 51yo wine, after time port like with bit of VA, complex nose, this will go on for at least another 5 years, such panache

Bottle #1. 1st decant - 5hrs. rebottled and brought with us to the restaurant for 50th birthday. Decanted another 1.5hrs. Consumed over the next 2.5 hrs. with with party of 7. The nose was of black cherry, little bit of mixed fruit & musty oak. The color was a light garnet & turbid. Nose of olives and mint. Taste is pine, herb, and some blue fruit notes. Def high acid, tannins intact but refined. Moderate plus complexity & finish. My resident expert said this was not a typical Brunello, but we all agreed it was quite delicious.

I remember this as being quite charming when bought some years ago. this is now the last bottle and should have matured. Though, it did not yet bring the wine together. Relatively mellow and some sweet notes with spices and some faint cherry and phenol notes, overall not in a balanced place at this moment. No idea if continues evolution, but would not recommend this in current condition. i though am not a Barolo specialist...

Just lovely...my God, I love aged Nebbiolo. This is exactly what I look for in an aged wine. It has preserved youthful and lively red fruit and floral flavors balanced with subtle but deep delicious tertiary notes. Age has smoothed out the tannins to the point that they are like lace: undeniably present but transparent and beautiful. The acid is present, but mellowed to the point of providing a solid lip puckering through-line without any of the harshness that can …

turbid, pale rim with medium red center, at first a very musty nose gradually evolving into a strong moss note, extremely detailed and persistent spice notes and fresh pine needles, lacey in their presentation despite their persistence, on the palate a gracefully aged cherry fruit that endures beyond expectations, cloves, a bit of polish, with time a more pronounced animale, opened about an hour prior to tasting- it was still improving 4 hours later as dinner concluded, a thoroughly elegant …

A good older Barolo with a wet leather and damp leaf nose, a bit of wet dog and dried blood mixed in also. Palate thinning and perhaps drying out at this point but still thoroughly enjoyable if you enjoy aromatics more than mouthfeel. Delicious. People who demand fruit will hate this and give this an 85, people who live for aromatics will wonder why I underrated this by two points.

Enjoyed with spaghettini, this poured light to medium body, lots of florals and feminine notes in the nose - some interesting secondaries I can't quite classify - almost antiseptic/medicineal in a good way. Lively and fresh acidity, with some tannin still. Not much sweet fruit, but enough to keep it somewhat in balance. Will put under vacuvin for a day and see what happens and update more. Smells of chestnuts, dried fig, grilled meats and dark chocolate. The palate is full, round and glossy. There's plenty of mocha/chocolate notes and a jube-like quality to the fruit. It gets more savoury with air and tannins are relatively plump yet the wine has freshness.
