Becker Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve Canada Family Vineyard

Had this wine at a wine dinner with beef tender loin today. One of the best Cabs I have tasted. The winery had 10 bottles left and a friend and I bought them all.

I found the bottle mate to the one I gave a 74 to almost 9 years ago. Tucked in the corner of a cellar that we are cleaning out, and popped the cork to give this one a whiff before dumping it out. Not great, but not as horrible as everyone else says. Decanted for about half an hour.

Not good. We poured it out.

HIGHLY disappointed. I'm really not sure what happened here, but whatever it is, it isn't good. The cork pulled without any obvious sign of damage. No oxidation suspected. The waft out of the bottle initially was quite inviting. There was a lot of fruit here, and it was definitely of a darker variety.
