PNP. Fully evolved wine with pleasant aromas and flavors of black cherry and forest floor with light notes of tar. VG structure featuring elevated acidity and fine, fully resolved tannins making for a food friendly wine that paired well with grilled tuna steak.

Pop and pour. In the glass, orange-tinted pink at the rim, shading quickly to dark maroon at the core. On the nose, dark fruit, potpourri, and a bit of vanilla. On the palate, sour cherries and sweet plums fight it out, with secondary notes of anise, vanilla, and fresh ground pepper, leading to a relatively short tangy finish. Interesting wine, not what I was expecting at all. High acid, for sure, but dark fruited, dark funked, musky fruited (muskmelon? Papaya? Jackfruit?), decomposing leaves, a bit of red and black licorice, loads of white pepper, and vanilla. pretty hollow on the mid palate and finish, which prevents it from getting a higher score. Day 2: more perfume, dried flowers and now a bit of blackberry liquor. Still a very clipped finish.

This is still so young. I was hoping that with half a year sideways it would have unwound a bit. Scents of earth, mushrooms, and dried red fruits dominate the nose. On the palate this light-medium bodied wine has brisk acidity, framed by a melange of red fruits and chewing tobacco. A wine that still needs time to show off all it can offer. Excellent...and possibly outstanding with some time and patience.

Lighter fruit, floral, some raspberry on nose. Red berries and currant with a bit of jam. Powdered cocoa and touch of cedar. Thick tannins on late palate with blackberry and a bone dry finish. Med, full acidity. Perhaps some age to soften tannins and the acidity.

Opened last night and had one glass from the bottle...it was tight as a rock and not giving anything. Tonight it's a different story. Medium body, high acid, wth a mix of dark and red fruits on the palate and nose. The acidity dominates the finish and really does demand food for this to shine. It's a Barbera for the cellar. More contrast in the mid-palate than the Borgogno Sureperiore '13, with a spicy tomato leaf and a grape stem aromatics playing against a blackberry accented fruit. The acidity is on point here all through the midsection and lingering into a vibrant finish. Not too extracted -- a union of a Barolo accented fruit driven style and a nervously aromatic but austere Northern expressions of the grape (would have like more of the later). Average.

Blueberry jam and pickled cherry on the nose. Let it breathe and it will pick up some Bordeaux elements of tobacco and blackcurrant leafs. Airing this wine is probably a good idea because it seems closed and low on intensity after opening. Good balance on the palate but here as well - not much concentration. Red fruit and minerality flavours. 86-88 points.
