Domaine Rivaton Côtes du Roussillon Villages Gribouille

14% ABV. Medium to dark garnet colour, notable sediment. Crunchy red fruit, ripe blueberries, ripe blackberry, ripe plum, garrigue, liquorice, gamy notes, some chocolate, espresso, spices, slate-like minerality, some mint, and some VA, with good acidity, mostly resolved tannin, and very good length. The medium-bodied wine is well-balanced, with great intensity, a lightly creamy texture, and good freshness. More elegant than expected. Got better and better as it breathed. Quite beautiful.

At the outset bustling with dark cherries, vin nature-style musk and ripe fruit. After a while in the glass notes of cocoa, meat, blackberries and wood take over. By the end of the carafe it has dumbed down, with softer tannins, marshmallows, coffee, plumbs in the forefront. Good interesting wine.

Extra après la verticale Janasse Vin noir, nez animal et très jeune, avec du fruit et charbon! Bouche puissante, moderne et jeune. Des tanins fins, un style nature, il a un beau potentiel mais souffre de la comparaison avec ses illustres successeurs. 89 pts
