Really not my cup of tea at all. Just too much sweet fruit, almost confectionary, with little structure. I've had much better experiences with the Aves.

Really delicious Barbera. One of the best I've had up there with Rinaldi's. Medium ruby color. Nose of red fruits, light florals, exotic spices, cloves, vanilla, cocoa and licorice. On the palate, dark red cherries, raspberries, nutmeg, cloves, thyme, tobacco, vanilla and chocolate. A very complete wine with amazing QPR. Very impressed!

Excellent Barbara. Medium light ruby with complex fruit and spice on the nose, fresh fruit on the palate with supple acidity and tannin to back it. Most barbers tend to be either too acidic or too big in body. This is in near perfect balance. So delicious and ready to drink now. 91

Barolo 2025; 7/1/2025-7/9/2025 (Barolo, Italy) : The only wine that didn’t really sing at the tasting. Barbera tends to see the most new oak, not just at Burlotto, but for many producers, in order to provide well conditioned barrels for the Baroli. This probably will integrate with age, but felt composed of good components rather than an integral expression.

Pale to medium ruby, slight garnet edge. Decanted for 3 hours. Nose is subtle but complex, rose petal, red cherry, strawberry, rosemary. Fine and elegant in the mouth, med+ acidity and svelte barely there tannins, medium bodied and silky textured. Red cherry and raspberry flavours, with pencil shavings and cedar to finish. Med+ length, med+ intensity. Lovely wine, each sip keeps you interested

A month in Barolo: A visit with Fabio Alessandria at G.B. Burlotto (Verduno, Piedmont, Italy) : Soft, balanced aromas, showing quite a lot of tartness. Round and elegant on the palate, showing a nice purity of fruit. Spicy acid on a rather voluptuous finish.

It is a pity that people who don't understand wine or the 100-point scale impact the score of wines on CT. The wine is purplish ruby, transparent and clear. The nose is pronounced, with deep red rose petal, dark brambles and black cherry fruits, a hint of baking spice, almond paste. Juicy, bright acid, coarse sandpaper textural oak tannins, some saline, mineral notes, marzipan, dark bitter chocolate and black cherry, almost like liquidised black forest cherry cake. Just delicious. Not …

Medium purple in color. The nose is showing wonderfully ripe dark fruit, black cherries, blackberries, violets, and a wet stone minerality. On the palate, juicy black cherries with hints of leather. Over time, the early characters started to pop more. Length and concentration are a bit average. Delicious wine but better qpr Barbera out there.

With Fabio Ripe red fruits and spice with a sense of calm and clarity on the nose. Sapid with great palate presence coupled with freshness and lift. Harmonious. Little touch plum to the fruit. lovely Barbera.

Very delicious everyday wine. I would drink this even more if it was $5-10 less. Very good barbera

Terning 3 vin denne. Den glir lett ned uten å gi noe særlig inntrykk. Ikkje vond, men den gir meg heller ingenting. 14% alkohol er godt kamuflert faktisk. Men det er alt for lite frukt for min smak.

Ripe strawberry up front, low notes on the core with earth and tar, finish is fairly quick on a balance of acidity and tannin.

Quite high alcohol (14.5 %). Well integrated but, nevertheless, would be better with 13 or 13.5 %. A very good wine but lacks some typicity in my view. Stable over three days, could improve further with time. 90+.

Coravin. 14.5% alcohol. Medium ruby, youthful color but not quite as deep as some barbera; medium intensity aromatics, some plummy notes; palate is medium bodied, showing some heat and relatively high alcohol, medium acidity, some primary fruit. Decent barbera, but not as good as a top barbera (ie Cappellano) and shows a bit too much alcohol. Strikes me as a great bistro wine, and it pairs well with food. 89 A bit of air: a bit more red fruits come …

First experience with his barbera. Decanted about 30 min-1 hour, approachable already. Fresh and fun wine, earth, strawberry and black tea on the palate. Great value as always from Burlotto. (90-91)

Nose of acid mixed with strawberry and earth mixed with a touch of smokiness. A has a sour cherry core but not like Royal Crown Regal cherry candy. The finish is rather light and I would assume this wine fares better with food that is roasted or had a bit of fat to cut the acid. This is my first bottle of this producers Barbera. Plums! Beets! …blood? Sweet dark fruit, spice, and structure under $30 — what else do you need to know? Tasty on its own, and probably stellar with hearty pastas or braised meat. Good now, good whenever you want to open it.

Strawberry and red fruit on the nose. Oak and tar on the palate. Plum finish. Medium bodied. Mild acidity and mild to low tannins. Could have waited another year, as it was still a bit aggressive. Upon opening up, slight earthy notes on the finish with more muted plum.

Don’t touch this for at least a year. It’s very nervy and that combined with the perceptible 14.5abv it’s too intense and not yet very enjoyable. The ducks are in a row though and once it settles should be very good.

Piemonte: Truffles instead of Turkey; 11/23/2023-12/2/2023 (Barolo, Barbaresco, Alto Piemonte and of course Alba) : Very bright and fruity and yet again there is more balance and classic styling. It’s not always my favorite grape but I appreciated this.

Nose is quite closed but hints of small berries. Somewhat reminiscent of Gamay. Super concentrated and peppery. Long and dense. Assertive and serious. Everyone is very excited by this but I find it forbidding and harsh.
