Dinner w/ Friends & Impromptu Blind Tasting (Eagle Brook CC) : Double blind. Light color. Aromas of candied cherry, rhubarb, strawberry and something a little resiny- somewhat reminiscent of pine sap. Medium-bodied and bright, with lovely cherry and wild strawberry fruit with fine supporting acidity. Nicely balanced. Guessed Sonoma Coast pinot. (G&RB)

Dark red at the core, fading to translucence at the edges. Rich aromas of strawberry and earth. Deeply fruited and polished on the palate. Cherry, strawberry, bit of anise, minerals. Fine, precise tannins, great acidity, fabulous balance. Finishes long and lingering with spice and strawberries. Lovely Pinot Noir, bright and juicy. Drink next 5 to 6 years.

Vibrant, dark cherry color with translucence spreading from the center. Moist earth, cherry, strawberry on the nose. Delicate, beautifully precise on the palate, crisp and clear. Strawberry, earth, hint of rhubarb. Smooth, elegant tannins, bright acidity, gorgeous balance. Finishes long and subtle with black cherries and strawberries. Nice minerality throughout. Lovely wine. Drink next 5 years.

Very pretty wine that really opened up over a couple of hours. Red cherries, strawberries, red currants, dried herbs, minerals, earth. Well Balanced. At this point I prefer it to the 2018 Wendling, even though I thought it would be the opposite based on the notes I've red.

2 hr slow ox. A bit of time in bottle has done this wine wonders. I remember trying one in 2020 and enjoying the crunchy red fruit but found it monotonous. This now drinks a little like a good gevrey village wine. Meant as a compliment of course. In fact, the most recent Pierre Damoy wine I tried reminds me of this wine. Dark red core, translucent cherry at rim. Cherry and herbal aromas on nose. Precise, bright strawberry/cherry fruit. Lovely. Fine, firm tannins, bright, subtle acidity. great balance. Finishes long and more dark fruited and compelling. This may put on weight with some age. A Burgundian vibe to it as it gets air. Drink next 6 years. 92 points with an upside.

Drinking well right now, some great red fruit with hints of blk cherry and earth. Mod acidity with light to moderate tannins and moderate finish. Could improve with some more time in the cellar. Of note that foresty Mendocino fruit really comes through after anout 2hrs. I think out of the pinots the LE Benedict is great right now but the wendling is killing but just needs some more time but hard to resist right now.

Followed over 2 nights. Very intense strawberry and cherry notes with a bit of fruit “sweetness” on the palate. Quite dense and concentrated—but balanced as this firms up on the finish and there’s plenty of acidity to resolve. Strong forward CA Pinot that has structure to evolve. Maybe the most impressive Pinot in the Dupuis lineup to me so far. Will get better with time. (Otherwise FM3’s note is right on...why even try after a note like that?)
