Screwcap. Strong nose of dried leaves, with background notes of cherry and saffron. Flavours of dried mushroom, brown leather, and cherry liqueur. No fresh fruit, but good tannin and acid; good with food. Palate shows significant (but not unpleasant) oxidation. Probably past its best, but still decent.

Drunk on Christmas Day to accompany turkey, our wines this Christmas in lockdown UK are chosen to remind us of our favourite wineries we have visited in more pleasant times. We visited Wooing Tree in 2009 and spent a good afternoon with British owner Steve Farquharson. Opened 1 hour before pouring, then decanted. Medium plummy colour. Dry, plenty of fruit, especially cranberries. Dry palate, slightly spicy, cranberries, ground cumin, hint of cherries. Lovey long finish. At 12 years old, this …

Bought 6b for 10/b 8+ years ago from a local chain of shops; this may be #6. Decanted with light sediment for its age. Aged pink with an amber edge; fragrant mature black cherry, baking spice, some oak that follow on the palate, somewhat Burgundian, very good mouthfeel. Delicious. Sorry to see it go, but it's time. Stored horizontally in a cool, dark basement since purchase. My evaluation: For me, scores on a "100-point scale" are misleading. I use a …

I am very sorry that my bottle, despite being decent, is short of being impressive. Relatively high alcohol causes nice legs. The opening is typical Central Otago's - spice bomb. Middle is great but suddenly everything stopped in the middle part of the tongue. I hope it is just my bottle, otherwise there are other Kiwi pinots tastes better and cost at least 1/3 less.

Nez un peu fermé pour l'instant, mais tout aussi savoureux en bouche qu'à l'habitude.

Pale; upfront, bright fruit, polished; soft, supple yet with stuuffing; presence to a decent finish. Plenty to offer over the next couple+ years.

A little spice, lots of fruit, very pleasant wine. Love this Pinot for the price. Would buy this again.

WXTP Tasting (Brad's Place) : A very decent little Pinot. Young, but it should improve with time. On the nose, it showed ever so clearly as a New Zealand Pinot, with sweet cherry scents dancing alongside floral, violet accents and a more savoury, slightly herby twist of vine stems and lower-toned earthy notes. There was just a bit of a candied tone on the fruit aromas, but this more or less disappeared on the palate, which though very primary in …

Pnp. Classic NZ Pinot. Good structure, some funk. Light but not thin. Nothing super complex, but delicious.

Nice enough. More of a red fruit pinot with a fairly bright acidity. Not much nose.

For a Pinot, quite good. Fuller body. Tart dark cherries. Cinnamon notes.

Huge improvement with a few years under its belt! This wine certainly needs time and air! - Beautiful silky texture, Burgundian like texture and length! The main thing that comes to mind is cooked cherries, dipped in chocolate, with a little bit of lemon (acid) drizzled over the top of it. Do that, and THIS is the 2006 wooing tree! Enough acid to keep for another 5 years, may not get better, but you can certainly enjoy for awhile yet!

Central Otago Wine Trip December 2010; 12/20/2010-12/23/2010 (Central Otago, New Zealand) : Very ripe and full cherry nose, good concentration with fine tannins and good acids holding this all together, will keep, but is approachable now

Stunning, really enjoyed this. Oak was well integrated and abundant fruit present.

Weak on the nose, but hints of un-sweet jam like from sloe berries. Taste was direct and peppery and also some tannins. Tastes of red acidic berries, like rowanberry jam. Long taste with then even more pepper.

Pleasant enough Pinot, but nothing special. Nothing fundamentally wrong with it and some nice cherry flavors, but not a lot of intensity. Not a bad summer wine

Central Otago Pinot Noir Expo (Prince Wine Store - Bank Street) : A rich and spicy Pinot, but still silky smooth and almost Burgundian with plums and dark cherry on the nose, but bright raspberries poking through the palette and the soft tannins. Really good.

One for the cellar, will only improve with time - still too young and oaky, should open up with 4-5 more years. Not as smooth, silky, or fruit forward as the 05, but did open up considerably with 2 hours in the decanter - earth, plum, cherry, and spicy notes.

Markedly improved from last tasting - me or the wine? Sexy sour cherries galore with a nice amount of funkiness. Comfortably integrated, lovely wine overall.

Needs more time in the bottle to flesh out, but the fruit is very tasty. Loads of cherries and berries with a hint of brambly goodness. Wont be opening another any time soon, because this could be a 90+ point wine in a year or two.

Quite deep ruby, touch of pink on the rim. Soft, slightly fatty, plum and cherry nose, just a trace of oak. Quite full with nice chocolatey plum fruit and a touch of sousbois. Nice long finish. Very good stuff. 3+

Pale pink. Some cherry to the nose. Palate is really lacking in any flavour except for some sweetness.
