The wine looks crimson colored. The legs are medium. There is light sediment in the bottle. It smells like forest floor, tobacco, fur, wet dog and black currant (cassis). Dusty bing cherry, sweet wood smoke, grilled gamey aromas, and dark chocolate (70% or so) with sweet vanilla comprise this interesting nose. I found the lack of fruit or jammy characteristics interesting, but not necessarily negative. Rich, velvety smooth tannins and moderate acidity compliment this medium to full-bodied wine.
