Enkidu Cabernet Sauvignon High Mayacamas

Decanted for about an hour. In a pretty good spot right now, good amount of fruit (some red berry and cherry) along with some herbalness and spice. Decent acid and tannin on finish, overall pretty nice bottle.

Vintage Select Industry Tasting - Firehouse in the Heights : This was a very unusual cab. Nose of sour cherry, bell pepper, earth, and tobacco. On the palate, ripe but lean at the same time with flavors of bright cherry, bell pepper, tobacco, and spicy oak. Great mouthfeel. Lots of tannic grip on the finish. I would like to hold a few of these and see where they go. My guess is that they will improve with age.

A visit to Enkidu (Enkidu) : Sorry, I did not like this one. I am sure others will like it much better but it hit some off spots for me. The nose is dusty (good) and vegetal (I didn't care for). It has a really nice texture despite what I would think would be low alcohol. Firm tannins. It also has a bell pepper vegetal quality turning slightly bitter on the finish. The only clunker, for me, in the bunch. …

Quick taste at the Enkidu Tasting Room this afternoon. Bottle was just opened. Black licorice dominates the nose and flows on the palate along with some spice box, tobacco and dark berry fruit. Ripe but mountain ripe, lean and easy going. Mild tannins, mild acidity and that lean ripe fruit on the finish. $35 winner.
